No fatalities on the Stuart Highway? So much for speed kills.
But then the Aussies actually use exceeding limits as the definer of speed related crashes. Not like our liars in blue.
But we have a whole 20 something km's of 110 limit. Woo bloody hoo.
I've driven for 10,000 km's in Italy now, and it's hard to describe how relaxing it is to not worry about speed limits and beady eyed cops. The cops don't actually care, they all speed too.
Most autostradas are 130 now, some at 110, you'll get trucks and some cars at the limit, but most drivers travel at 10 - 20 over with a few cruising at 160 plus. Mainly big German diesels. Although I did see a couple of Ferraris 458's doing around 250 on the M1 near Modena. Road testing I guess.
To be honest, many places in Europe have speed limits of 140 km/hr (Poland?). I wouldn't mine seeing the speed limits on the highways get raised here in the summer either. BC even has speed limits of 120 km/hr!
Didn't realize Australia had such low limits, the wildlife maybe?
