Note that those are two different cars. Interior shot is a Ford.

Yes, it's two different agencies.

So it figures, right at the start of operation southern shield My car gets a nail in the tire... right on the edge where it can't be patched... I was planning on new tires in about 2 months so that just moved up to now. Of course that means my car with all the CM's just went out of commission until thursday, borrowing my dad's MKZ for a few days. I put a single ALP head front and center for what it can do... and before I send it back later this week a redline EX on the windshield, he already has a dash camera so thats covered. Here's hoping that will cover me until thursday when I should have the battle ready van back.

Today into Atlanta across the bypass and a bit down 85 then back to NW Georgia. Few extra here and there maybe but nothing crazy... :cheerleader:

I'd vote in the poll, but I haven't had the occasion to go to TN or SC since it started. :-(

All though it's only day #2 , I haven't seen any increased LEO patrol out of the norm. No complaints. I think the Operation Southern Shield is a bunch of hype. Maybe it isn't in you town or city but I'll see how in all pans out at the end of the week for my area.

Well glad i put the ALP head on my dads car (which I'm borrowing while mine gets new tires), ran into a pair of moto cops with an XLR. I wasn't speeding too badly at the time but i was close to +10, no ticket :)

I've had Waze up on screen today at work and the police activity on the highway does seem maybe a little heavier than normal... it's not exteme but they are out. perhaps over the weekend it will be a little heavier with some aircraft enforcement

Nothing too out of the ordinary today except 2 locals running what looked like LIDAR early in the AM right before I got on the highway. Was in the company car so no CMs...

NC must have decided to join. NCHP has been on fire this last month.
Wondering if Trooper R.C. Williams will be around.....................he really got nervous when I told him I had a gun in the car. Seemed to be really disappointed he didn't have a DUI case.....

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz yawn...........

Me either! We were hoping for a little more action in NC too so Jane can get some hits on her new R1 I just installed in her Mustang! So far it's dried up like it always does with a new detector but the few she's gotten were killer!

I know what you mean. That always seems to happen here when I get a new detector. I have been doing a lot of traveling over the last few weeks, and “traffic enforcement” has been down in my area. It has started to pick up a little in my area with Southern Shield, but I haven’t noticed a huge or significant increase.

it seemed like monday might have been a little extra enforced, otherwise it's almost seemed quieter... however it almost seems like the media coverage of it has made driveers slow down, the LLH's have been aweful all week. I'm surprised there aren't a ton of aircraft traps up this weekend...

Well, as I think about this, this is simply a scam. A crackdown on speeding? Are they telling us that they have been lax on speeding up to now? Or that they haven’t enforced speeding up to now? We know that isn’t true. In fact someone posted some statistics on tickets and money raised through tickets recently. It was pretty clear that no government has been lax on speed enforcement.

They should call it what it is. After all a little honesty from our government would be good. And what it is in reality is three things:

1. An opportunity to raise even more revenue with a concentrated effort, dressed in sheep’s clothing as a safety effort. Once again your government working harder to make your life better.

2. An opportunity to do it using Federal Highway dollars as they mascaraed this in a multi State safety effort.

3. A chance to give the officers extra easy duty once again using Federal dollars to pay the for overtime shifts. Yes, your compassionate local government employer hires their officers at overtime rates to do nothing but sit on the highway and write you very costly tickets. Sort of like the federally funded seatbelt enforcement plans mysteriously run around Christmas time every year. You do realize that local governments use Federal Highway dollars every year for overtime (that means 150% of their normal pay) to enforce seatbelt laws on us, even though nationally the seatbelt compliance rate is already over 98%.

This is why government needs so many highly educated people to run it right. I mean the logic in all of this just goes right over my head.

Will the stats from Operation Southern Shield be impressive? I doubt it.. If I find the results posted somewhere I will post them here.

Was way below Atlanta near Griffin GA on Thursday then Friday another 20 miles down and all the way back. I noticed a lot of cops looking to pace/pass you once I passed the city but I think that is expected from the random posts I've seen here with their activity so yeah nada. Got near the city today and back and nada really either. :drinking:
