Will it run on any android? I’m thinking about buying a dirt cheap android phone and using my hotspot to run it.

I am about to order the AVINUSA replacement nav screen for my car. It runs Android and lets you still use your main Nav computer and screen, and switch over to the Android side and back.
Did you go through with this? How is it working out?

I didn’t. Money had been tighter than I initially anticipated :(

You may have challenges with hot spotting. I have Verizon, and it would not stay connected. Someone else mentioned this earlier in a JBV1/Offline mode thread. Other carriers may have a better hotspot connection. I purchased a separate data plan for my Galaxy S8--used/renewed from Amazon. I tried a bunch of phones and liked this set up the best.

Here's what I did as long time iPhone user:
1. Asked around to some family members and ended up with an old Moto G5 Play that had been sitting for a while.
2. Hardwired it into my car.
3. Ordered a FreedomPOP SIM card for ~$15, comes with 200MB of free data per month.
4. Canceled all the fine print and extra add-ons FreedomPOP tries to sneak on, that free data comes with a shady company.
5. Turned off mobile data for all apps besides Highway Radar and JBV1, and also set up a 175 MB limit in Android to prevent overage charges.
BOOM! Highway Radar's working great, and I've only used like 50 MB of data over the last 2 weeks.
