I really don’t think people understand that mike makes tons on money even on our small updates. I mean even if 5k people updated the firmware he made tons of money.

Is Junk Fighter any better than Uniden’s K filter or are they about the same? Does TMF2 filter out Hondas 24.198 +/- ?
TMF2 was not intended to operate the way that Uniden's K filter seems to. TMF2 works across the entire band. Somewhere around here I have a video showing how much TMF2 actually accomplishes against 2018 Honda BSMs. It's not perfect by itself but it's the difference between 1 signal and 7-10 fluctuating signals all at once. TMF2 deals really well with the BSM systems found on semi trucks, etc. and I probably get 1 punch through every 200-300 trucks I encounter. TMF2 was designed to be a Traffic Monitor Filter for stationary traffic monitors on some highways.

JBV1's K-band Boxes are much closer to what Uniden's K filter seems to do. You can have 5 K-band boxes or 6 "non-boxes" for a majority of BSM issues. I currently use 5 and have 1 free if something new comes along. Of course, @johnboy00 could add more in half a day if we need more.

For me, I'm simple and have been using V1 since it was released. JBV1 makes it great for me so all I would like to see is increased sensitivity but not at the expense of going bonkers on falsies. As a thought, maybe a display of frequency but NOT an OLED display but a more old school LED type display> Problem of course is how to show more than one signal at a time.
Reason is, OLED look nice but have their problems, burn in is one.

I think part of the magic of the V1 is that it tells you what you need to know, does it reliably and in a simple, long lasting manner. Everything from the sounds to the simple alert system is super simple and easy to use. The one exception I would say is the miniscule LED for the radar types. But nobody uses those as once you learn the sounds it's easy to tell the types of radar.

I got into the Mustang today, it's a black vert (top was up) and the V1 was so hot I couldn't touch it. Turned it on and it fired right up. It's above the mirror behind the Pony rubber type decal or whatever it's called.
Next time I'm gonna shoot it with my thermo gun to see what the actual case temperature is but I can tell you HOT, HOT, HOT and it's been doing this routine for years without a problem.

So again, Mike V, KISS.... Keep it simple but make it better at the same time.
And thank you for making the API open.
Just my simple ideas... I'm a simple person :)

Confirmation bias. Peer pressure. Single issue focus. If I bought a phone with half the Uniden problems I'd be returning it and never touching the brand again.
Uniden really has come out of the poo smelling of roses.
People vote with their wallets. If it sells, why would Uniden change anything? I can tell you right now I returned my R7 after 2 1,200 mile road trips.

Valid point. He makes great money, but he also hasn't issued an update in some time if I am not mistaken?

You can mitigate burn in. It just depends how much R&D Mike wants to put into the display.

Regarding displays:
My car as three. One is an 8 inch touch screen, another is roughly 65% of the instrument cluster, and a third is inside the HUD. (HUD might be a little different tech since it has cooling fans.)
Those screens are on 100% of the time when the car is on. There's no reason a detector can't have it's screen on 100% of the time if a user chooses.
It shouldn't have to rely on shifting pixels, dark mode, etc. An LED screen display would work great for this and no burn-in.

I agree, but OLED displays looks so much better and so crisp. It's 2019. I'm sure someone can figure out how to fix burn in on an OLED display.

I think that is a misconception. A good LED display is nearly comparable to an OLED display. OLED is great for allowing deeper black in images since the entire display isn't backlit but we aren't needing to watch movies on these. :) As far as crispness, I'd think that's more about resolution.

The problem with OLED is that it looks a little better at first but can deteriorate quickly and look worse. I'm very happy my current phone is not OLED. With all of the car time alone that display would look bad by now. (16 months) My previous Samsung with an OLED display was burnt by 6 months.

I've never had an issue with any of my AMOLED screens, but I don't drive many hours per day very often.

OLED "burn in" is generally caused by the shorter lives of blue pixels. Their lives are shorter because they require more power to provide the required brightness compared to reds and greens. When the blues start fading over time (faster than reds and greens), colors using blue start to shift. This is why JBV1 doesn't use colors with blue components in areas of the alert screen that are pretty much static, and why I created the screen dimmer functionality long ago.

I would be fine with either an OLED or LED display in the next V1. I always use the auto dark options in JBV1, so the V1 display is never on for long anyway.

Hold up, this is so cool! You know, I'm no V1 user yet, but it's the stuff like this that really makes me want to try it and your app. You always go the extra mile with your app design, and just when I personally believe you couldn't have thought things through any more thoroughly, you prove me wrong again. This is just flat out fantastic forward thinking that most people wouldn't even notice, yet is super important.

I know some hate the “out of stock” discussion but August is next week. I am now beginning to think this may be entirely, partially, or somewhat related to the discussion over on the patent thread rather than a goof-up on supply chain.

I wouldn't mind a upgrade to the concealed display to have a LCD like the R7. I know this is kinda of a mute point since we have JBv1, but I have to assume that not everyone might want to use their phone. Valentine wouldn't even really have to change the exiting chassis, just change the concealed display as an "upgrade". Don't know here just brainstorming.

I think it would be neat to have a customizable LED display and you can change the colors from the settings. Of course we all want BSM filtering, MRCD detection ,etc ,etc that we've all discussed before.

Nope. Not me. I want the current bulletproof display to remain in case my phone dies.
I don't want to wonder if some LCD, LED, OLED whatever is going to fail when I need it.

I doubt there'll be many speed traps around after the big one goes off. Or detector users for that matter.

So if this was the end of V1, MV would not be creating, and inventing and posting patents

No one would answer the phone and give a couple of hints. Actually no one would answer the phone unless V1 will return or is being sold to someone or some other

company and the details need to be worked out

Either way Its a torture being in the dark

MV please change the OUT OF STOCK to ETA of ________ expected thanks for your patience

Actually if he were on his way out patents would be a way to cash in. If you own patents and another company wants them so they can make a product after some R&D- that'd be a relatively easy way to cash in.

Not saying this is what is happening, but some companies file patents left and right because they can be extremely valuable. They are literally Iike throwing a calculated dart into a dark room through a crack in the door guessing where the dart board is.

Edit: I thoroughly understand the speculation of the unavailability of parts vs MV being done/retiring vs potential of a new design etc.

Just adding that patents have little to no correlation to his plans regardless of speculation.

FWIW, Valentine Research has not said anything about quitting, selling out, etc. Those are speculations of a handful of people.

As I mentioned in another thread recently, if Valentine Research is just waiting on parts to continue to make the same device as before, that impacts very few of us. Those of us that have one of the 3 current versions won't need an upgrade if it's the same. (I speculated that there are maybe 5 people here that actually want/need a current V1 if that's what they will be)
If that's the case, it's simply a curiosity to most here.

On the other hand, if changes will have been made, that will be much more interesting to many more of us! Some may choose to upgrade if they see value in those changes.

I say all of this because it's my perception that many of us want to see what happens with this out-of-stock situation that is sort of a mystery, but it's not actually a huge concern until we see what happens. :)

SURE Patents = $$$$$ look at Intel

But please change the number of people who need a "same Valentine " to six

I changed to Max 360 back when launched -- and for various reasons want to return to
