thanks for the info. i saw two installs in another subsection that sold me on the 2+1 setup. I have seen a few officers parked on highway onramps aiming at passing traffic, but they always use radar. And I've made a habit to look back when passing the most common ones. I'm sure eventually I'll get rear protection, but not up for the investment yet.

And you just gave me a flashback to a friend that got pulled over after being followed by aircraft. I completely forgot they do that here as well. It's a great state to not have to worry about inspections and such, but yes they know how to trap speeders.
You can use JBV1 to track aircraft and waze alerts and compile them nicely into one screen. Here is an example of aircraft:

The app has recently been opened up for people without a V1. Here’s how to do it:

Welcome to the forum! You’re definitely in the right place now but as others have said get some Laser protection asap. ALP is a great choice followed by TMG at a great price point!

I was also initially worried about data usage on Waze for long trips.....I just used it on a 10 hour road trip, followed by a 14 hour road trip. That data and the rest of the month's usage, I have still only used 1.7 GB's, and I have a 12GB plan. It really doesn't use much at all. I was using it through Apple Car-play on my F150's navigation screen.....don't know if that somehow lessens your data usage or not

If anything I would expect it to consume more due to the larger amount of map being loaded on either side of the road due to a wider screen.
I am around 600MB from a cross country trip.

Car play doesn’t change the data used. The amount of alerts and reporting.

Edit: Still not sold on waze yet because I don't have unlimited data on my phone and rarely use it at all in the car. I don't even have a phone mount because I pretty much just leave in in a dash cubby while driving. I may need to read up more on it.
FWIW Waze is extremely efficient with mobile data usage, infinitely better with data than Escort Live is.

Waze takes up about 3.5 MegaBytes per hour of usage for me. I based this off of my own data usage logs on my cellphone of how much data Waze has used since I last reset its counter; 766MB of data over a period spanning back ~228 days, where I use Waze on average 5 days a week for one hour a day.

Escort Live makes 1 HTTP request per second to relay your velocity and heading. That is in addition to the separate requests it makes for user reports. I easily can use more than 40 MegaBytes in one hour with Escort Live.

TLDR; Waze shouldn't break the bank. Based on my personal usage calculations, If you used it 9 hours a day, 31 days a week at 3.5 MB per hour, you'd be looking at 976.5 MB (barely under 1 GB) per month.

Thanks everyone. I'll give Waze a more serious look now.
If you have an android, Highway Radar gives you the essential info at greater distances.

It defies logic that you do not want to spend an extra few bucks for more data in your plan but now you are paying for a ticket and thinking about ALPs (which is sometimes in the thousands)

Waze is ATM our strongest form of Counter measure available and should be your first upgrade, I run Waze everytime i get on the car or bike and on an average trip it has saved me more tickets than jammers or the RD because neither of those can protect you against VASCAR, in addition Waze can save you from instant on radar and a lucky punch through by a dragon eye or an XLR, which even the best jammers can get occasionally.
