I've read all the threads that I could find regarding this error but nothing has worked.

I receive a "GPS ERR" after a few minutes of the STIR+ being powered on. It tends to power cycle then run for a minute then give the error. I originally had ELDW installed, I updated that and it didn't help, and I've removed it completely, which also hasn't helped. I updated the STIR+ prior to uninstalling ELDW. I've held the antenna in my hand with a clear view of the sky and still nothing.

Support says they've never heard of this happening and told me to send it in for testing. There's a thread on their forum that indicates someone did look into it at some point.

Firmware is current. Should I force a reinstall? Should I buy a new antenna?

Does anyone have any additional advice on getting this resolved?

I don't have a definitive fix, but tonight my GPS worked for the first time since I installed everything. I wanted to list everything that's happened since the last time it worked. I'm sure some parts aren't relevant, but I didn't have much to work with in the posts I'd seen so I'm just listing everything. Here is what I've done since the last time I drove.

(Detector Tools 1.5.58 and was already running latest update for STIR and EL direct wire.)

1. Disconnected Escort Live and did not reconnect the display.
2. Installed Detector Tools 1.5.37, wouldn't let me update
3. Installed Detector Tools 1.5.42, wouldn't let me update.
4. Installed Detector Tools 1.5.57, started the update with "Update All" and it would hang at 0% on step 2.
5. Turned off the car, tried again, same thing.
6. Installed the database update, that worked fine.
7. Tried to update without using "Update All" hung on step 2 again.
8. Got pissed, started cursing, got out of the car, went inside, sad panda.
9. Somewhere here it may work, but I didn't test last night, so I can't say if it was working then, but it wouldn't update.
10. Today I took apart the Escort Live, broke off the buttons and soldered new ones and put it back in the car. (this most likely did nothing to help, but mentioning it in the event its actually some issue with the device)

Anyway, sorry I don't have a magical "do this" fix, but hopefully if someone has the issue something here will fix it.

The display seemed to be connected to the issue somehow. When EL starts acting up the display will cut off and restart or it may freeze and even during an alert only show the mode you're running in. One guess I've had is that the update was hanging on step 2 because the display wasn't plugged in, and terminating Detector Tools kicked something off the cliff to start working. It would be a little weird, but that is the only difference from when I tried to update last. So try updating without the display plugged in and if it stalls for 5-10min on step 2 and it says 0% disconnecting may do something.

Or it could simply be using 1.5.57 instead of .58
