Most of the Ka I see up here north of Boston is 35.5 (Decatur guns), and that coupled with the thick foliage in the summer makes for some short detections, even with the R3. Really goes to show how hard 35.5 is to detect.

I feel your pain! I've been facing a steady diet of 35.5 for YEARS in NC! Nothing sucks worse! Lucky for us, since the first of the year they [NCHP] have been switching over to 34.7! Oh happy day! While they still use I/O 99.9% of the time, 34.7 is much easier to detect and I pick up little blips way farther out than with 35.5! So far it's around 60% 34.7 in my area! Good riddance to 35.5! Great videos BTW!

Arizona has been coddling with 35.5. in the past year and it sucks. thankfully they usually are parked and so they get tagged on waze. Not too much rolling I/O out here...yet.

The only saving grace is that almost everything is C/O around here. But between this and the ever-increasing smattering of K Band, it’s not much fun up here.

Knock on wood that it doesn't become I/O hell like it is around here! It will become much less fun in a hurry!

Nice detections! Good for around town where speeds are lower! +20-25 on highway with that type of foliage sucks! I love West Texas's wide open rolling plains! Mainly ka 34.7 with locals/Sheriffs running some K band and 35.5

I’ll be the optimist and say at least you don’t have I/O K band. Can’t think of anything deadlier than that these days.

Actually K band has alot of drawbacks
•Short range
•Water absorption
•Bigger antennas (dash space)
•Bad for long straight hwy use from short range
•Looked down on as old tech by other police depts
• Short on features
-The list goes on and on

This also a public thread probably better discussed in intermediate or at least beginner

Can you shut off the audible freq announcement? You are missing most important part of the ramp up.
Yes you can. You can toggle on and off the voice announcement (what band it is) and the frequency announcement. I prefer to leave the voice off and frequency on. I much prefer knowing the frequency, and in most instances, it hasn't seemed to impact interfering with the ramp up that much. The second video it did, but I already had a visual of the LEO, so it didn't really matter anymore.

Me too! I love the frequency voice on with the regular voice off. The ramp up is perfect and I know what the frequency is without even looking at the screen. I already know the band from my alert tone.
