Hello.

Last weekend I went to Orlando on Wonda ,(my bike) and I got many encounters but each encounter was unique, I want your guy's opinion on each encounter.

In some encounters I got stellar range, up to 4 miles , in some I was almost at the bumper to the cop (shooting the other way) in one I only got 10 seconds before the kill zone.

Please watch and tell me what you think, did I get a cold unit? is this normal for the R7?

Warning: please lower your volume a bit before playing video, may be a bit loud

All enounters are 34.7

The first one seemed somewhat normal to me with him shooting in the opposite direction. The second I can’t really say because based off of the ramp up I thought he was running his front antenna and that you would have gone full blast once passing him and held for a while. Third of course was a beast and the forth was a bit scary imo just based off how the R7 picks it up and then sort of drops it off and on until it screams at you. Granted I’m comparing it to my R3 but I notice that the R7 doesn’t have a real “latch” like the R3. Seems like once you get the initial alert it just plays with the signal until your borderline kill zone then goes full blast as opposed to the R3 ramp up that many said was overkill because it latched on and screamed at initial alert no matter how far away the threat was in most cases. IMO I would take the R3 style ramp over the R7 at least it will have me on my toes early.. the slow ramp with the R7 gives you a false feeling that you may have some time before reaching the threat in some scenarios. I could be wrong but thats my honest opinion

90° on 35.5 is 10-30 seconds
Same with 34.7 but 35.5 is more likely to be at the bottom

Hi and thanks for watching.

I was just a little but worried that i got a cold unit.

My R7 is unpredictable , in some detections it inspires confidence like the third encounter , but in some it is scary, particularly the last one where i was seconds away from the kill zone on a CO..

I have decided to take it back to BB and trade it for another one, unless someone here convinces me otherwise , i hate to trade it in if it is working normally but too u reliable on the quality of of the warnings

Let us know how the 2nd one works out, or if it behaves the same.

Alerts #3 & #4 are what I'd expect from my R3. #3 he's wide open with no obstructions so it should be a long alert. #4 he's buried far off the road (that's crazy really, based on what I see around here) and with all that foliage that has to greatly reduce the signal.

#1 seems a little short, but okay, he's shooting away and perhaps his placement under the overpass and right next to the concrete wall has some sort of a blocking effect or focusing effect on the signal, stopping you from picking it up from behind.

But #2 is odd. Based on your lead up, it seems he's shooting away, like in #1. But as you point out the signal going away is screwed up.

So the two odd balls both involved the cops sitting under the overpasses. I don't face that around here, perhaps someone who does could speak up on what that can do to alert range and if it has any weird effects.

Pretty sure some of those are IO encounters, definitely the first encounter, and probably the last. Hard to tell because you've got voice on and Ka frequency voice on. Turn those two off and you'll get more accurate texture of IO. I'd say it's a decent performer based on that limited footage. I'd hold off returning it until you get more seat time with it.

All encounters were CO, the voice alert cuts off because of the voice but ..

The thing that worries me is that in the second encounter the R7 was pointing back , and continued to point back as I passed the trooper, I have a feeling the front antenna is weak on cetain 34.7 frequencies, the fact that the rear antena is picking it up first is unnerving

Ok update, just came back from another Florida trip. The wierdeness is gone. The detector performed better. I had more false K bands but I think that is due to the detector being more sensitive, the last one was ultra quiet on K band, this one got a few falses even running it in city mode with TSF,K block, K filter K wide, on KA I had 3 really good 3 mile KA 34.7 alerts.

My only opinion right now is to avoid low sequence R7 since beased on what I have read here and my own personal results the low sequence ones are not as hot .

I mean it is not even a scientific experiment but based on my experience, other people experiences and Vortex test on spectre where the low serialized ones did poorly i am drawing this conclusion.

The difference is noticable .

I would say any detector that is first generation or came with firmware 120.

121+ should be ok, but I would like to hear other people's experiences

By low sequence are you referring to the firmware or the serial number? If the former, why not just upgrade the firmware? Thanks

Perhaps we should get a legend so we can remove Monday morning and Friday afternoon production from our shopping lists.... :roflolmao: :roflolmao:
