I hadn't yet thought of using JBV1 in offline mode with TMG. That adds some nice features over TMG Remote. :)

What would be cool is if the Ka alerts can be placed on map as approximate location. So if I get Ka hit just like a daze alert throw it on map as estimate of where it might be. Maybe let user assign distance per strength level to support their terrain

I. E. Every level is 1/10th of mile

Can you elaborate on on this idea?
I'm not quite sure what you are suggesting above what we already have. Attached are a couple of views of a couple of my past Ka alerts.

Yea I want present alerts on map not past

So just like when I get a daze alert it places cop on the map to give you idea where same with Ka Band. Use the strength of signal to place on map

Jbv just got me used to map more then arrows

I think he means to guess where the source is on a live signal. Too many unknown variables and too few inputs.

How to enable offline mode after you do through the set up procedure? Do you just press it on the splash screen? When I log off it will exit offline mode?

Yeah, but those alerts are placed precisely. One input (GPS). No variables. No guessing.

Well it's place by the user not alway precisely but you get the idea. Was hoping same with Ka. If we know direction and strength can maybe make good guess

Select "Offline Mode" from the splash screen menu. Exit offline mode with double press of back button.

Something similar to escort live is what I was thinking of.. I've never used but I thought they map the alerts out? Either way just an idea

@johnboy00 . In a future release, can you have a setting specific to Ka that will increase how long it stays grey on the screen after it is no longer presence.

My thoughts are, I need to treat Ka front as IO for 30 seconds longer than K. Normally something shiney gets my attention (SQUIRREL from movie Up) and I forget about that little warning of a Ka possible IO ahead. Once the Ka shifts to rear, then no longer a threat to me. I just fear Ka IO.

Range means nothing once I forget I was warned.

EL doesn't guess where the source is. In addition to user reports like daze, it logs and shares alert hits from other users running EL+RD. That requires cloud storage ($$$).

Indeed, very big $$$. For the price of JBV1 I'm not sure it's in the financial budget ;)
I priced some cloud storage not too long ago, and considered trying it out, but it's kind of a catch 22. Without product sales to support the cost, I'd have to make it subscription based (like $3-$5 a month), and then not enough people would subscribe to make it useful.

Gotcha. I meant just displaying it like that I know sharing with rest of the public is more infrastructure

I just meant when when get Ka say level 5 ahead place it on the road maybe half mile away so it's on the map like daze alert is all I meant. Anyways sounds like I'm in the minority so no worries keep up the good work still badass app.

Maybe require like year up front subscription? Would be cool but I get we are small enthusiasts crowd

The problem is that "level 5 ahead" doesn't always mean a half mile. You could have a "hot" detector, or a "cold" detector. The geography of the area strongly affects what sort of signal you receive. A 5-bar signal ahead on a flat, straight road can be miles out, while a 5-bar signal on a forested, twisty road can be 500 feet ahead. The same road in different seasons can drastically change the strength of the signal received. And so on.

I can't even place a wild-ass guess on the road ahead if it isn't perfectly straight. I don't have the map data so that I can traverse a road and place a marker on it a half-mile ahead. The map is Google Maps, and I can only place markers by GPS coordinates. Guessing range to source from signal strength would be not much better than a wild guess because of factors like terrain, traffic, and reflections from signage. A driver is in a much better position to estimate range using all those factors.

@johnboy00, Was CSA Range Limiter moved or intentionally removed in JBV1 version 1.6.0? It used to be at Settings>Display>Alert Map>CSA Range Limiter (On/Off) but I don't see it now.

I was about to start a thread to check if I was using the feature correctly. I have the CSA Minimum Alert Range set at one mile, and of course, get crowd sourced alerts more than a mile, sometimes two miles out. The alerts show up on a dark screen with no map at first, and the map pops up once the CSA drops below a mile out. Is (was) this the way the CSA Range Limiter is (was) supposed to work?
