Yes Ill agee, I was just voicing mine. Youre correct , lol Fuzzbuster. I remember those. I never owned one but they were model "T"'s.
Ill respect your post and reply ratio to mine. I'm just an old fart of 61 years with a retired electronics degree or few, that hates to admit that my days have come and gone in this industry. The new generations electronics look impressive to the point of me being left behind now. I remember tube type TVs, now well OLEDs rule. LOL, -you seem to be a class act, and I enjoy your posts. Thanks for going E Z on me-no offense to all you V1 owners.

nope - I sit corrected, they just look huge in the magazines. Hey I used to own that 360. Now I own the large 360C LOL

Ok love my V1's so much and with all that is going on at V1 - decided to buy a backup unit.

Found one on Facebook Market with Junk K - (latest) in the box for $325.
Thought why not.

Are my crazy? Maybe should have bought an Escort - but just love my V1's (in all my vehicles).

Still think its crazy 2 months + - out of parts? Still advertising V1 model they can't currently sell in over 15+ Magazines (Pop Science, Road Track, Automobile, Car & Driver, BMW Car Club, Porsche Car Club, etc. etc. etc.)

Something is going on....but I don't want to take a chance not having a V1 at my side with custom sweeps and integration into my apps.
I think if Mike did come out with something new it might turn the industry on its side !! (seriously doubt this will happen though)

Just hope they aren't phasing out and about to go out of business and running out the pre-purchased ads in the magazines out.
NOT so sure at this point. The great disrupter about three years ago was Uniden with their models.

It would take one helluva V1 to beat out the R1/3/7 line.

I'm curious about your comment about the V1's size. Have you ever owned a V1? They're relatively small compared to most RD's:

X2, the 360 and 360C are like having an iPad on your WS and that photo ^ ^ ^ does not do the size of the V1 justice. Even the Escort Redline EX is large and heavy compared to the V1. If you want small and petite, Radenso is the way to go.

I don't think it's crazy at all. Everyone has their own way of doing things. Some would say they've already got a V1 so they want to try out a 360 or whatever. Personally, I already have V1 hardwire + BTLE built into my vehicles, the apps carry over the lockouts and such not matter what vehicle I'm in at the time, and I'm very familiar with the behavior of the V1. So unless I were purely looking to learn something new, I'd do like you did and go with another V1. That's how I ended up with a V1 in the wife's car and another V1 in the truck :)

I hate the new math. Did you know that 5x3 <> (5 +5 +5) ? Under the new math. Why Was 5 x 3 = 5 + 5 + 5 Marked Wrong - Math Hacks - Medium
That was an awesome read, and it actually makes me appreciate that common core approach a lot more than I did 5 minutes ago--AS LONG AS the teacher is doing a good job explaining WHY, like the author of that article does. And like he says, "For example, 3 bundles of 5 bananas is different from 5 bundles of 3 bananas although they total to the same number of bananas. Their structures are different." Same as 30 ÷ 2 is equal to 5 times 3, but not equivalent. Completely different operation entirely.

We can all learn from other's opinions @ron topa! I'm not too far behind you in age. Remember the tube testers at Radio Shack? Looking back, it's kind of crazy that we had stuff like that. :)

That was a good explanation. Unfortunately, third graders don't understand it so well. Couple that with kids who still don't know their alphabet (some in 4th grade), and therefore can't read or comprehend, "helpful" parents who do their kid's homework or "correct it", and it's a disaster. It will take at least a 1/2 generation for this to seep into the minds of children and parents.

I was in BB last week before the 4th of July and this R7 looked so lonely in the display. I was going on a road trip up through New England from Eastern Long Island so I weakened and bought it. I previously tried the R7 a couple of weeks ago and returned it. See my other posts. Anyway, after reading the forums and with the new firmware I figured why not? Also, the mirror mount from China was still sitting on my desk as it arrived after I returned the 1st R7. So I drove a little over 1200 miles with the R7 (latest firmware, segmented for NY/NE and using Vortex settings) and can confirm the volume is MUCH louder, even in a convertible with stereo blasting. Also, the BSM punch throughs I would get seemed to be mostly from the rear, according to the arrows. In fact, a lot of alerts seemed to be from the rear. So this thing sniffed out everything that I saw with room to spare. I did get the "GPS failed to lock" errors when left in the hot car (Mustang) above the visor. Got dashes on the screen as well I think. Doing a POR would fix it.

So once again, it comes down to ergonomics which is ironic since that was my main reason for the R7. Eliminate the burn phone I run JBV1 and Daze on. I need to use an iPhone for work so I also tether to it and just leave it in the console as the Pioneer head unit handles any phone calls.

The R7 simply does not fit comfortably in my car. My V1 sits stealth above my mirror stuck to the plastic "trough" at the top of the windshield. It's barely visible. The burn phone is in a cup holder phone mount.

The R7 is so thick that even adjusting the mirror down barely works. And it sticks out so far into the car that it gives me claustrophobia of sorts because it's invading my space.

So I tried the China blend mount clone and it worked, but it's like "Hello, radar detector over here" which I don't like. Same for suction cups on the windshield. I also tried flipping the mirror mount around so the detector would mount on top of the mirror. That was even worse.
The only place I felt comfortable with the R7 in my car was on the dash in the left corner of the windshield where the registration and inspection stickers go. Not the best location.

So after the trip, I returned it.
Even though I'm less of a tinkerer, I missed my JbV1 and the combination of the burn phone and V1 was actually LESS intrusive in MY CAR, an 03 Mustang vert.

It's good to be home!

BTW I ordered the newer BT adapter from Valentine on Tuesday and it should be here on Thursday. I'm replacing the original one.

Sorry for the long post but I haven't seen many posts regarding ergonomics.

Happy detecting.

The R7 firmware update did not change the size of the unit so why bother to buy a second one when the size was so large that it gives you claustrophobia? I had the same issue with the Max 360 size as it was large compared to the redline-O (or any other unit I had over the last 10 years). I didn't get rid of it for size though as the range was a step down so the arrows on the 360 were not enough to make up for the larger detector with less sensitivity (terrain here makes that critical).

I was interested to see if the volume issue was solved and possibly anything else regarding detection / usage that might not be documented in the firmware release but that I noticed in my own use.

For the mounting/size issue, I came up with some additional, alternative ideas after I had returned the first unit so I decided to give it another try.
Unfortunately they didn't work out for me.

To be honest, from a detection point the R7 is excellent and the benchmarked tests show that. In real life usage, at least for the area's I visit, I didn't notice much difference between it and my V1 other than K band, which the R7 seems to pick up miles away in some instances. My decision was similar to yours in that the size difference didn't make up for the extra sensitivity. If I had a bigger car, or SUV, that might have been different. So the bottom line is as much as I wanted to like the R7, for me, in my car, the V1/JbV1 is a much better match.

I gotcha, different reason but some thought process. I don't get much K here and city mode still gives me decent range for the occasional encounter with almost no falsing. Ka is all over the place in my parts. I ordered another WM bracket as with the big cup the R7 is about a quarter inch from being able to fit above the rv mirror. The size did give me pause on ordering one for a couple months so I get that for sure. I also delayed due to the talk months back of a new V1 being released but got tired of waiting. Anyway if it does ever come out with some higher end range I will give the V1 one another try and then decide which one to keep. I always like trying the new units out even if I don't always end up keeping them.

Define 'beat'? V1/JBV1 'beats' the R series in everything but range.
And if that's all that matters, the Unidens are for you.

Here we go again. Coming on here and telling us our detectors are obsolete crap, then saying you aren't trying to be offensive is disengenuous at best.
Sure, people are allowed to voice their opinions, but those opinions should be based on facts.
Running a 360 and telling us a V1 is too big simply destroys anyone's credibility.

I am looking for a 'good' tube tester. I still own a few old tube radios - 2 Collins KWM-2 (A) and a Collins S Line 32S3 Transmitter and 75S3C. Plus 'lots' of spare tubes for them. (I use to work at RS and remember the testers. wished I had kept it)

Waiting to see what is coming out if anything new. Only time will tell on the V1.
