The issue is that you cannot tighten the screws well enough to prevent angling on one ball or the other. This happens on a serious pothole or when trying to press mute.

I have one of those with both the mirror and suction cup mount options. Got it from radarmount.com a year or so ago. I couldn't use it as a mirror mount on my 2017 Ford Escape because there wasn't enough room behind the mirror to attach it. It works great with the suction cup mount option, however, and you can still have your V1 under the mirror. A very solid mount. I never tried it on my Chargers because I decided I didn't want my V1 below the mirror.

I never had a problem tightening mine enough to not move on potholes, but I never use the V1 hard mute button, so I can't say that wouldn't move it.

I'm trying to get all my devices off the windshield, which is why I was curious about the mirror option.

is the mechanism that attaches to the mirror stem made out of rubber of some kind?

I tested one out a couple years back and it was okay, but I'd often have to keep retightening it. The teeth around the RVM stem wound up actually scratching my RVM stem and that always really bugged me. I started using the Blendmount instead afterwards and have been very happy with the upgrade. The Radar Mount option has sat in my closet ever since.

Here's a comparison if you like:

I know people complain about the price of the Blendmount and I totally understand that. The Radar Mount option certainly is cheaper and it can do the job in many situations (it doesn't fit in my Audi now, similar to @chinaify), but the experience is also going to be different as well.

This is not an issue. My RadarMount hasn't moved a single bit since the day I installed it. I can go off roading with the V1 hanging there and it's not going anywhere.

If you have one that isn't getting tight enough using the thumb screws, consider using a hex key. :)
