Another great save by the R3. If this local LEO could have just hung in there for another 4 or 5 seconds, I would have been full line of sight and he probably had me. He probably just caught a glint off the paint and went for it. Fortunately the R's killer reactivity saved my bacon and I jumped into the binders. I was over the PSL and it was about to drop dramatically more. You can hear the R ramp all the way down before it bursts again. I assume he was taking another shot at me because he didn't get a lock the first time, and I didn't get the frequency change alert, so I don't think he was targeting the car coming up from behind him yet. But, by then I had scrubbed 20+ so it didn't matter. V 1.48 Settings - Advanced and Seg'd 2/5/6/8 ON. X and K at 50%. Laser, Ka, K filter and TSF ON.

Yeah, when your cruising along in the middle of nowhere and the RD blows up like that, you definitely pucker up a bit!

U think he saw you around that curve?
I don't think he "saw me' per se, I think he saw movement through the tree breaks and knew I was about to round that little curve.

This is probably a dumb question, but why the freq. change?
What am I missing?
(As You can tell, I'm still learning!!)

Front vs rear antenna. In this case it seems like the front antenna was 34.731, and the rear antenna was 34.723.
If it was a Stalker 2X DSR, he could've been running both antennas at once, otherwise the LEO switched from front to rear to clock vehicles behind him.

In a situation like this, small town and all, I can't help but wonder sometimes if the LEO is using Waze and waiting for users in almost real time.

I think this is a good point in general. More LEOs are hip to Waze and who knows how they use it to help them. Partly why I don’t log into Waze. I don’t see any benefits to being tracked on Waze. In fact I think it’s a pretty poor idea.

I’ve heard a number of stories of LEOs using Waze to know when to change their location and even unmark themselves.

Initially I was not in love with the idea of being tracked all the time either, but with work, the reality is I am already. There is no doubt LEO's are constantly on the move now because of Waze. Five years ago you could pass a LEO in the same spot multiple times, they would camp out in the spot forever. Now they get marked on Waze and you go by less than 5 minutes later and they're gone. Meanwhile you or somebody else finds them again a mile or 2 up or down the road. In this case there is so little traffic, I can't help but wonder if the LEO's so bored he just keeps the app open and is watching for users coming into town.

Unfortunately, I'm getting to see more and more of that I/O you've been dealing with forever. It sucks! Lol.

Tell me about it! It never gets any better, I'll tell you that! One big difference! In NC he would have waited until you were right on top of him and then popped your @ss!

I'm pretty sure I puckered a bit just from watching this. That was a nasty encounter. Glad you made it out unscathed. I rarely see I/O in my world, but I have nightmares about it nonetheless

Up until about a year ago I/O was non existent. Just recently I starting to see it more and more, and not by just locals, NJSP too. The lead time on the C/O used to be laughable, now i have to drive much more carefully. On the plus side, they still suck at using it effectively!
