There are at least two other far older threads on this same topic. Mods can we merge this thread?

Here's one I started in March: Google Maps now has Speed Trap Feature

As well as several others lol - I put the oldest threads first

Thanks, I think for this specific thread, it's okay since this is more of a comparison thread as opposed to those other threads which are generally just about Google Maps + the Speed Trap feature.

But in the future, we'll keep on new threads regarding this topic and ensure they try and remain in the existing threads.

For us non-V1 users, there's Highway Radar, which will give you police VVaze alerts up to 10 miles and aircraft if that's a threat you face.

"over operating cost" well boys we need new dodge challengers! That should get our operating cost up.
That's a CapEx, not an OpEx.

I drive about bout 5 hours a day. Google traffic updates faster and has finner traffic detail. I use Waze only for police and hazards map/warnings. I'm starting to use Highway radar also, like it a lot.

I run split screen with maps up top in alternate route view to get the whole route in view for seeing the traffic conditions, Red, Yellow, Green. And Waze on the lower portion to hear and see LEO and other alerts.
I am still finding Maps to route me better and Waze to alert me better.

Keep an eye out for our announcement on the 15th - ideas like this are exactly what we're looking for when it comes to the app/system we'll be developing. The idea is to really give you guys an app that has everything you want in it.

I hate to hijack the thread with RDFGSv2 stuff but it's somewhat relevant - been scouring threads similar to this for a while now taking notes about what people like/don't like regarding navigation apps/waze/EL, etc.

my V1 is now a desktop ornament
I drive home on a route that avoids the highways. I would personally drive fast for 1hr15min then sit in traffic for 30min.

So this route makes no illegal turns or anything and it is legitimately as fast as if not faster than taking the highway. Waze will not accept the route. Even when im driving it will tell me to U turn. Very frustrating.

Clue's in the name
The only reason I use Waze is for hazard and police reports. Google Maps is definitely better at actual navigation.

I've been thinking of switching to Google Maps because JBV1 provides me the CSA stuff, but that'll mean I still actually report anything.

I was a Waze junkie. As stated above, I still run it for police reports. I have ran Waze side by side with Google, Apple, and TomTom apps. The TomTom app is a little crude looking, but I get the best routing and most accurate traffic info from it. The interesting part is even though Apple uses TomTom info, TomTom seems to work better. TomTom also hardloads it’s maps into the phone for offline use.

I’ve found Waze stopped using good shortcuts a couple of years ago that it used to use before. My gut tells me they have agreements with cities to not use routes through some neighborhoods.

I'm now running Google Maps on the big screen (via Android Auto) and Highway Radar and TMG Remote on split screen on my phone in an Ailun magnetic holder.
Google Maps navigation & traffic with Waze law enforcement info through the Highway Radar app. I think it's a good combination.

Thankfully with iOS 13 they’ll let you have an app on your screen and a different app on CarPlay, so if you want you could easily run both Google Maps and Waze visibly at the same time.

Does the Google Maps features for speed cameras and speed traps work in Canada yet?
I can't find any setting or feature remotely resembling this.
Waze is fully functional but hardly any users in my area.
How do I find this in my Google maps app if it is active?
Thanks.

I've wondered that myself. I've used it for several years and there was a time it would seemingly come up with new and unique shortcuts fairly often. Now, I don't remember the last time it did. Now, all I get is the three most common route options that everyone else is taking. This of course is purely anecdotal, but I can't help but think since it got bought up by Google, something has changed in the years since. I just wish Google would put the best features of waze together with the best of google maps, that would make for an all around great app, oh and fix the routing back to how waze used to be.
