Seeing more K band. Vacationing in Cape Cod and had THREE police cruiser sightings with K band ramp ups in the 25.150-155 range over the last two days in Eastham- one was when he had a customer. Also had separate repeat 35.5 Ka detections in Orleans, right by the police dept.

I know @westwind77 has reported a lot of K band down in that area lately. The whole state of Massachusetts has seen a massive uptick in K band recently. Lots of agencies, including MASP, have been recently adding K band in full force. I'm up on the North Shore and have been seeing quite a few traditionally 35.5 agencies employing K band lately.

Got blasted with K by a Burlington town cruiser just yesterday so hard I could practically feel the V1 alert in my bones.

Was there a viral blog post on MassCops, something like "10 crazy things that will happen if you start clocking with K band. #4 is so good!" that got circulated recently? ;)

K in Burlington? Jeez man. Add that to the list. I've spotted K in Wakefield, Topsfield, Wilmington, and Tyngsboro all within the last month. Plus quite a few MASP K band encounters on the Pike and Route 1

Orleans loves their 35.5! Eastham was the same, but has transitioned over to a couple cruisers running K band as well now. It seem the newer cruisers on Cape are getting loaded with K-band...and one completely unmarked black explorer in Harwich running 34.7. How long are you on Cape for? If you want to know any specific areas to watch out for let me know!

I just returned from 10 days in Chatham, with sightseeing in adjacent towns. I only noted Ka hits. Anything K-band was unverified or BSM. Weird. I don't see this uptick in K-band back up here in EMASS, either. I'm not saying it's not happening, just that I'm not seeing it on my usual commutes. I run my R7 on City, BTW.

Thanks for the offer westwind77! If we weren’t leaving tomorrow I would have taken you up on the offer, but we’re heading to Martha’s Vineyard. Any advice there?

I had TWO more confirmed K C/O encounters this afternoon, weirdly both within 10 min of each other but both with the same characteristics. Distinctly different than the BSM K hits in that they’re sustained/significantly longer in duration, of higher signal strength, ramp up to/from source- and of course, seeing the same type of police vehicle associated with these other findings. I would be skeptical too had I not witnessed it myself and having had it confirmed by other users in the area. Perhaps I noted it now because of the times I drive and/or the time of the month? Jokes aside, it is the end of the calendar month ; )

Can't help you on the Vineyard, I take the boat over, no vehicle :)

Tuesday was insane with enforcement here on the Cape. I had to run an errand after work and had 4 LEO's on the way to my destination and 3 more on the way home. 2 had people pulled over. This was a quicker shorter drive as well. It is coming up on the 4th and I guess they are cracking down...plus it was raining which surprised me more as well.

Chatham only runs K-band. If you were getting Ka you were in Harwich/Orleans. Chatham does not typically run with their radar active anymore. A number of years ago if you saw a cruiser K-band was flowing - then all of a sudden they 'went dark' and only have it on when they are actively patrolling for speeders.

Yeah, this week I've seen a major up-tick in local speed enforcement in central MA and on the pike. Today I saw MASP stationary running rear facing 33.772 at 7:30pm east bound on the pike at the Natick ramps and west bound there was a black Ford Taurus with regular plates, tiny disc shaped radio antennas on the rear trunk and emergency lights hidden on the rear deck and front grill that kept up with traffic but kept moving into the center lane and seemed more like it was trolling for aggressive drivers rather than speeding (as a group the left lane was alternating between 65 - 85MPH due to traffic but no one got lit up).

I'm pretty sure this is the beginning of the summer show of force from LE.

Yeah, Route 1 all the way up the North Shore from the city has also seen a major uptick in the past few days. The past 3 day, I've seen a cruiser on the Tobin both directions, southbound into the city during the day and northbound at night. 3 Times were K band, twice was 35.5, and once was laser. Also saw a trooper in the O'Neill tunnel shooting laser by the Purchase Street exit on Wednesday. There was even a Saugus LEO shooting a Talon II out his window yesterday morning right at the Route 1 / Lynn Fells Pkwy split.

I suspect there are public safety grants for increased enforcement OT thru the 4th of July holiday.

This K band increase seems to be happening many places. I’ve noticed an up tic in MD this summer. Didn’t really think anything of till I started seeing these posts. I assume it’s a cost thing. You can probably get a nice system pretty cheap these days from some of the listings I’ve seen.

Having it camouflaged by BSM may also help in that decision.

Ugh, gotta watch out for that one, easy to come off with speed there.
Route 1 / Lynn Fells Pkwy right by Kelly’s is one of their prime hiding spots. Another is right up the road at the Route 1 / Route 99 split heading towards Malden. They camp out in the parking lot of that place called Martini on the right, just after the orange dinosaur.

I’m also realizing that anyone not from the area might be pretty dumbfounded by that last sentence

Or the leaning tower at Prince Pizza. RT1 still has some goodies even if the giant Mr Peanut (Peabody) and the huge Santa (Saugus) have moved on.

BTW a lot of the dinosaurs from RT1 can be found in Salisbury. They all were from the NY 1964 world's fair.

A nice write up on mr peanut. That sign was a childhood staple.
