Cool, let’s try it against my Falcon HR while buzzing past a grocery store with a big CVS with half a dozen door openers ;)

I know we like to get carried away around here, but “performance” covers a whole lot more than range. If extreme range is all you’re looking for, you don’t need to plunk down big bucks for an R7 for that. I’ll take the V1 ramp-up and apps any day in all but the most extreme conditions.
That's why I don't own a R7! My 3 R1's save my bacon against the worst State Troopers in the country almost on a daily basis! My V1 can do it too, just as long as the cops all play nice and don't hide behind that bridge and around that corner! As far as buzzing by a drug store, no thanks! You win that one, these State Troopers hide in there too! I don't play in town, just out on the highway. The V1 has the best ramp of all time and I love it, but they just need to match my R1 on range and off axis that's all! Is that too much too ask!?

Apparently so far it is! :D
You have a point there, I have to give it to you! Just imagine a V1 with JBV1 AND the range and off axis of a R1/R3!

Back on the subject of corrupt sweeps. It was fairly well known in the past that it is possible (note I say possible, doesn't happen frequently I don't think) for sweeps to go wonky when pushed on top of existing sweeps. Hence the advice to do a reset before you push a new set of sweeps. I did experience it once while @Jag42 and I were testing. But that was the only time I can recall it ever happening.

Or some other brand?
Thanks

The one at the top of the dash by the speaker is a Panvise 75107-513 with a proclip iOauto mount. The one down by the shifter is a iOauto mount on an proclip mount.

Make sure you test the R7’s adjustable and intelligent auto lockouts, custom mute boxes, BSM snoozing, configuration profile saving and switching, listing of multiple alert frequencies and directions with strength, visor mount, accessibility of controls when mounted against the headliner, ease of volume changing, and the high quality hardwire included in the box for it.
Evil. I like it.

PS Unless I’m running fast in the country, I have my R3 set to Advanced Mode with Ka at 60% and K at 30% just to try to combat all the nuisance alerts. Right tool for the job!
Better still. Try them on a road with a cop 3 km's ahead using I/O and no one in front of you.

How about a trooper 3 miles ahead, shooting I/O, and 35.5 at that!, around a corner, and behind a bridge shooting at cars as soon as they crest the top of the bridge! My Redline and R1 can eat this up with no sweat at 3 miles! Guess how my V1 does at this same bridge? Now that's evil for you! If there's no one in front of me I'll roll at 9 over until there is! If there IS anyone up ahead however getting hit with I/O even miles ahead I'll know about it with my R1 and be ready for it!

You've completely missed the point. He's not transmitting radar because there's no one ahead of you. When he sees you you're toast.
On the other hand, V1/JBV1 has a chance of warning you with CSA's.

I didn't miss your point! How often do you really get on the road with no traffic ahead for miles? I drive in a rural area 100 miles a day and it never happens! If it does I just use common sense and slow down to what I know I can get away with till I see some tail lights up ahead! I would love to update my V1 and get hooked up with JBV1 and I will just as soon as V1 picks up the off axis at least! My V1 is good for 4 miles front and back until some off axis gets into the mix, then my range goes to hell! That isn't a problem if you live with C/O or lazy cops but I get neither! These NC State Troopers are anything but lazy and they know all about using off axis to their advantage!

Or on 35.5?

What this all comes down to is that we are all going for the same result, just in a different way. I prefer a stand alone monster detector that can pull down the slightest blip of 34.7 or 35.5 I/O from miles away, while a lot of us like the V1 with JBV1, or Escort detector with an App. To each his own! I'm too greedy I guess! I want a V1 with the same range and off axis as my R1's plus JBV1! It doesn't hurt to dream does it?!

@Kennyc56,
Interestingly, on my side of NC (Western), there's not nearly as much of the I/O stuff that you guys on the Eastern half tell about. I rarely end up going past Charlotte most of the time. I maybe get out near Raleigh 2 times a year. (Yet I'll end up in Charleston, SC 3-4 times a year or Nashville, TN 5-8 times. :))

It's interesting that the tactics are so different from the same NCSHP. Both SC and TN are a little bit sneakier than what I see in my part of NC.

If you ever come over here and test with us, on your way it won't take long before you see what I mean! You will also get to ride with me and see first hand how savage my R1's are against even crazy @ss off axis I/O 34.7 and 35.5! It has calmed down a bit since the first of the year around here however. There seems to be far less State Troopers in this area than ever before. The ones that are here are killers though!

Sure like my Panvise mount for my phone. Put in the L bracket next to the vehicle radio. Then bought some a used extension and a cell mount.

Just use your R series with JBV1 in offline mode (thanks @johnboy00 !).... ;) or Highway Radar or VVaze.

So I just sold my Max 360 -tired of not being able to see the oled screen

Should I buy a used v1 with esp or go for the plastic R7

Really need help here

Need arrows like the sweeps

But lots of raves and complaints out there most about the R7 bulld

Which should I buy or are they totally different

Just kind of depends on what you want and how you'll be using the detector/how you're driving.
Standalone or paired with phone every time.
Long range and good off axis or app support

South jersey
I see X K Ka and laser
I drive i295 where Leo hides on the side of the highway and pops

The
N alerts a second Leo 1/4 mile beyond
I like the idea of using apps to quite down the v1
But then I would need to wait like 2 to3 months or longer. Of nut on eBay
Some seem to love their R7 but if it’s made ghetto it’s not for me
What are your thoughts
