For those that aren’t in Ca, if Ka was the only legit source in our world, would you stay with the V1?
All depends on the terrain. For my driving the V1 gives plenty of warning, sometimes too much warning. No need to slow down so much when the leo is far away

Clue's in the name
Yes. A radar detector that can detect a cop from 1600 meters who isn't transmitting a radar signal is certainly impressive.
It must be V1's new Extended Range Cop Car Door Decal Recognition Technology.
I suspect he's talking about JBV1's integration with the crowd-sourced-alerts from the application that rhymes with "Days".

I had a V1 and just got the Uniden R7, for my use case I really only need to run Ka band in my area(understand there is a slight risk here)

I’m really liking my previous V1 In terms of arrow reliability (it seems spot on compared to the R7 that dances around a little bit)

Anyone else running a Ka only setup ? Did you decide to stay with the V1? How have your experiences with the arrows compare ?

How do you think the arrows on the other devices compare to the V1?

Can we still call V1 the golden child of arrows and is the max360 any better with locating the source ?
I found the arrows more accurate on V1 and most of all more visible, the V1 may look old and dated but very easy to read. R7 range was def better and liked the "all in one unit" but I went back to V1 recently mainly for jbv1 missed all the extras.

Yeah, there certainly is something to be said for easy to see LED's and not the currently popular OLED displays (during the daytime at least). Not to mention the amount of information an app can provide.

Ok cool, I have a few radar guns if you are in the Bay Area and want to run through it.

I'm 3000 miles from the Bay area and I already have plenty of radar guns!

Did the story change with 3.8952?

Yes it did! @VariableWave has a brand new V1 with JBV1 and all the bells and whistles with custom sweeps and my ole' V1 wore his @ss out! Mine spanked his by over 2 miles from the rear against C/O 35.5! It also was faster against Q/T! Like I said, this 3.872 V1 of mine is no slouch, it's just no match for the R7. I'm not knocking my V1 either! It was my first "real" radar detector and I'll never part with it!

My 3.825 V1 was spanking my wire bonded Magnum on K Band, which I was super happy about as I still face K Band here and it was quieter than the Magnum on BSM's.

Then, I found out it was blind to the lower part of the K Band. Must have slipped out of tune.

Bummer...

I ran an Escort before there was a Valentine One and have been running a V1 since it came out. Valentine didn't respond to a question that I left on their web site last month and I'm wondering if they truly still in exist. Not knowing if or when Valentine One might respond, I picked up an R7 and have been impressed by it's sensitivity. The number of K band false alerts dropped sharply by using the City setting in town and blocking the major false signals from shopping centers. I anticipate further improvements as I continue to experiment with the settings, but there is little question that the sensitivity of the R7 is substantially greater than the V1.

I don't have any experience with the R7, but my two cents might be worth something.

I've stuck with the V1, because I like the information, that I get when running YAV1 and now JBV1 and since my phone is already mounted on my dash, I see no reason not to run the apps.

EDIT: Added pic.

Certainly isn't a thing for me. I wonder if Normsky is experiencing something out of the ordinary?
The only thing I can think of that might explain whatever it is @Normsky is experiencing is that on some older units some people have reported needing to do a factory reset after repeated pushing of various different sweeps/configs. If he's using something like JBV1 with location based profiles continually pushing new configs to the V1, maybe that's where it's coming from?

I'm by no means an expert on custom sweeps as I don't use them (I' live / drive through areas where LIDAR, K, KA, and X band are in use) , but my understanding of the apps, is that they are sending a mute command to the V1, if they are preforming a GPS or speed lockout and that you need to manually push custom sweep settings, to the V1 and the apps are just a means to push the custom sweep configs.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't understand what you're trying to say. The apps provide numerous functions. Lockouts and low-speed muting are certainly common. Some apps can push configs as well (YaV1 and JBV1, for example), and that does include which bands are enabled and any custom sweeps if desired.

I'm responding to this:

More specifically "JBV1 with location based profiles continually pushing new configs to the V1". I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think JBV1 is pushing custom sweeps automatically / based on location, but I could be wrong / I haven't seen a setting like that in the app.

EDIT: Updated wording.
