Never did I think my first post would be my initial impressions of owning a Cobra!!! I purchased the Cobra DSP 9200BT Nov.2017 & RadensonXP after I sold my Escort Max 360. Last year the female power port on the Cobra broke. This month I sent the unit in for repair & no parts are available; so I negotiated to purchase the new Cobra DP 360 which arrived this past Friday!!! Street performance review will be given after about 30-40 days of windshield time. Here are my initial thoughts.... Build quality: Solid/buttons are responsive & well marked...compact. Color: Rose is non-reflective in direct sunlight & brand logos are small, unlike MAX Display: I run bright mode, green (day) & red (night) w/scanning bar. Band freq numbers are small & arrows respond timely. I mount the unit center & low on windscreen for easy access to buttons. The magnetic mounting is the best....no bouncing & should be the industry standard!! Power cord: Traditional Escort smart cord, USB, alert, power LEDs. Solid construction & warm when operating unit. No "strain relief" on male connection; but 1ft 20 inches of straight cord to ease pressure on connection. The DP 360 case gets very warm, which is not unusual for digital signal processors. There are vents atop the unit & bottom speaker vents to help dissipate heat. Next post will have details on performance, auto-learn/lockouts & BSM punch throughs. I own a Uniden R1 & it is a great performer & I'm thankful the R7 is here!! Last words....Most 21st century electronics are "over engineered." Radar/laser detectors & shifter/jammers are brilliant high tech tools!! The "keep it simple" theory works for me. My "electronic Swiss Army knife"....Cobra DP 360 is designed to perform w/fewer features than Escorts M360/360c units for less dollars!!

I'm considering it for my car as I didn't like the max360c performance for the price they want so I'm hoping this one is a bit better sinces it's basically a gt360

I've heard a couple stories . One is it's the bt9200 with the max360 filtering. I just took it on a 350 plus mile trip. It was quit almost scary quiet. When I put my radar gun out my window of my house. It picked up a little further than the max360

I deal with alot of 35.5 in Arizona and 34.7 with Texas DPS in my travels, I use my r3 in the units where rear arrows are pointless.

Yeah but it's like playing where's Waldo Everytime it goes off. I need arrows for my tow car
and that's a great point I get asked that several times a day. Why do I need arrows, it goes off I slow down. It's like what's been said so many times, there is no such thing as the perfect detector

I have two cars and a pickup, I drive big RVs, so each one excels in it's own environment. R3 does great in trucks and in RVs with the rear view is blocked but I want arrows for my cars where the rear is clear, V1 is pretty much out of the game now so it's escort or uniden and im not a fan Unidens build quality. I already am on my third r3. This Android phone makes me sound like an idiot with it's autocorrect.

Ah interesting. Yeah the DSP9200BT has done well in testing before too. It's not as sophisticated a platform as the Max platform so I don't think its IVT will be as good as as Max platform (just my guess), but the DSP9200BT was pretty good from user reports and this should be better still.

sounds crazy but I wish I had more chances to experiment with BSMs so I can get a feel how well it really does. After 360 miles it seems likely I was passed or passed some of the normal offenders. So either I got lucky or it really did that good. Good to know on the platform. The muted seged should help, might be risky but no more than any other form of taming the k band beast.

haha yeah I wish there was a good way to test and compare lots of different RD's against BSM's. I guess it's just a bunch of seat time, noticing which cars it filters or it goes off to, and making mental notes from there?
