On my way to college station today I got an alert in highway Radar for a helicopter registered as Texas DPS. Do we have aircraft enforcement here?! Screenshots attached. Alert occured on highway 46 just west of oak run road and New Braunfels.

I’m not aware of DPS using any aircraft for traffic enforcement, fixed-wing or helos, ether way. Im curious if others have first-hand knowledge of anything different.

I noticed one this morning on the south side of town off 35. Most likely following/chasing a suspect. Never seen first hand air enforcement here in SA

They have AStars and Cessna Caravans with flir pod but it’s for chasing people not running traffic. Missing persons and search and rescue stuff quite frequently when some one is lost in the brush. I actually spoke with the pilots a few years back when they got their first caravan.

For this alert Higway Radar wasn't able to determine whether this aircraft is safe of dangerous so gave an alert to be on the safe side. Basically it saw a small aircraft of a type often used for patroling and didn't found anything about the owner.
