Uniden just released firmware 1.24 for the R7.

Download the firmware update here.

This is a pretty minor update with a few bug fixes and small improvements. Performance, filtering, and features are otherwise unchanged.

1.24 Changelog:
  • Volume level change (increase) from current 0-6 to 0-8 level
  • Arrow Voice bug fix (like arrow voice only or multiple arrow voices)
  • When Speed camera (or Redlight) and radar alert are being detected at the same time, radar alert is displayed after speed (or redlight) camera alert – this is a bug fix current R7 version. Skips “radar alert” when detecting speed (or redlight camera) and radar alerts simultaneously.
  • K Block bug fix (punch through when MRCD On)
  • Power off by holding and pressing the key about 2 seconds

Wonder if they will try keep it separate like the prior DFR and LRD series.

Looking forward to the audio increase and power turn off delay. Nice call on those.

I am still seeing an issue with rear antenna reporting strong after passing BSMs and other sources vs the front. Curious if that ever got fixed in it.

Soon to find out. Thx for the post

I'd prefer they do feature enhancements as separate releases anyways. Combining bug fixes with new features in a single release IMO isn't wise. Just ask me about my experience with BlackVue :)

Did the actual audio volume increase? Or did they just add more audio divisions?
Sounds like audio increased. I’ll update tonight and report back tomorrow

Hopefully they will take shot at fixing the Auto Dim/Ambient sensor and the display issues in general on the next update. The display/color banding when set to Dim and Dimmer looks like crapola. And the orange display color hopefully will go down a few shades. Right now it’s like electric orange... way too vibrant. But for now these are some great fixes!

it goes up to 8 now
I don't think you understand my question. It could be that Uniden kept the same 'loudness' (think dB) but divided the audio levels up into more intervals (now 8 levels). Or it could be that they actually permitted the speaker to operate at a higher power output, hence the additional levels. I am asking which scenario is true.

Edit: Rereading that post, it sounds kinda mean and condescending. Please don't think it is meant to be read that way. I'm just trying to clarify my question.

it has 8 levels now and its way louder than before. I have 2 of them, before the upgrade it was at 65db, according to my apple watch, after the upgrade its at 89db,, not sure how accurate is the apple watch but its definitely louder

Do you really think that this post is constructive? It's not. Please keep this kind of stuff out of threads.
Always welcome. Thank you Uniden and Testers.
Let the griping begin. :p
So true...
Waiting for the following.......
"But it still doesn't" "Why didn't they"
and the ever popular "I was hoping for" comments.

Can we get 11 on the next firmware version? The M249 was not kind to my hearing.
Hahahaha, pretty much ditto, M85/Ma Deuce .50 cal and 105/120mm were exactly why I was asking for the volume change. Will be updating tonight and take it on a check ride. Based on what I’ve read, THANK YOU UNIDEN! I’m very confident the next release will be feature set/performance improvements.

Louder is great. I was hoping it could be accomplished through software and Uniden came through! Was going to hard wire an amplified speaker soon since I can barely hear it with the windows down on the highway.
