There's a big difference between a $50 Cobra and a $450 Cobra. We'll have to see what sales channels they offer them through, but I'm sure the sales will be nowhere near comparable as they're priced too high to be "impulse buys" (at least for the general public).
Yeah I wonder what the thought process is behind launching more expensive detectors under the Cobra brand. Maybe trying to make it look better with some decent options? Normally Escort has been their higher end brand and Cobra was their lower end brand. Maybe Beltronics was in the middle? I dunno, but it's basically gone now.

Speaking of which, I got confirmation that the GT-360 has been discontinued.

I have tested a GT360 and it was really nice. Quiet and the range was very good on that unit. Better than my 360c even. So I thjnk this will be a nice unit for the Cobra name and it does seem that Cobra is getting a much needed facelift after being taken over by Escort. When would Cobra in the last ever have been offering units like this? So I’m glad to see that Cobra is getting good units now. That’s assuming the dual pro performs like the GT360 did which I expect it will.
Do you think it will lock up more - or just as much as the GT360?

Thanks for posting that up!

So the DualPro 360 looks like it's basically a repackaged Beltronics GT-360, plus WiFi like the Max360c. They made the bronze bezel and trim rose colored and put the Cobra name on it, and it connects to Cobra iRadar instead of Escort Live (though they share alerts now), but otherwise it looks like it's pretty much the same thing.

On that note, is the GT-360 being discontinued? It's no longer on Escort's or Beltronics' site, and it's showing up as out of stock everywhere.

The Cobra Road Scout looks like an interesting idea. Not sure I'm sold on the design, but I like the idea of having a dashcam integrated into the RD. Good to see that it has autolockouts now too.

I'm curious if the RD is any good, given that they're now borrowing from Escort's technology, or if it's gonna be another low end performer. Looking at the FCC teardown photos, the internals of the RD look pretty basic.

I noticed on their website they also mention a dual antenna and dual LNA's, but looking at this photo, it's a single ridged antenna and I only see one LNA.

I do like that, like the DualPro 360 (saying that is gonna take some getting used to), it has WiFi for automatic firmware and RLC DB updates like the Max360c though.
It looks like Cobra/escort is trying the Russian/Asian concept of having Dashcam/radar detector combo. I know that Russia has lots of those.
Basically radar detectors are illegal in Russia and virtually all Europe. However, Dashcams are required in Russia (especially in Moscow) in order to obtain affordable car insurance. So virtually every Russian driver has a dashcam.

Thus, the radar detector folks wanted to capitalize on the idea of hiding the radar detector into a dashcam thus allowing for plausible deniability....of course that doesn't work if their detectors are easily detectable by Spectre units. (but consumer doesn't know that and the marketing department knows that the consumer doesn't know)

I've never seen a company re-release the same products over and over and over again as much as Escort. They have enough trouble writing/updating firmware as it is, now they just keep adding more of the same (with minor changes) that most likely require even more work. If you have a product that works, just keep selling it. Look at the V1, been the same for a very long time and still holding strong due to the reputation.

Take the 'Passport', they removed the BT and called it an 'x70', then brought it back later "introducing" BT calling it the 'x80'. I really would love to know where their marketing rep got their degree lol.

It will be interesting to see how this compares to the GT360 version in testing if/when that happens.
Meh, it's the same idea as car manufacturers. Basically, everyone expects a new car every year from a car manufacturer but in reality it's the same chasis, virtually same thing under the hood with minor tweaks each year. They continue that process for about 6 years or so and then update the chassis and call it "newly redesigned XXXX".

Well if you watch the past few years, the cobra name has been inching up in price...I mean their last flagship was nearly $300 wasn't it?

That'd be great to see a test. Given that no one has them yet and the Road Scout is currently only available for pre-order, you can always order some and then take advantage of their 30 day return policy if you don't like the detectors or don't want to keep them.
Sounds like a plan. :happyanim:

Ditto. I/we use the GT360 on regular basis. Seat of street pants, has better range than any other 360 platform I have. Not just a little. Enough to notice easy.

Wonder of they went backwards vs the GT360 on the duo device. Let’s hope not.

I use the heck out of the M1 dash cam system with the 360 series AND mounted (like it was designed to) to R7 sticky mount. Look, it is a decent 1080p cam. Not like the “good stuff”. We like them this way. Easy to set up/use, so, the new integrated system sounds promising. Especially using the GPS speed available to turn on the recordings. Plus as with M1, WiFi management. Wonder if the RD portion is at least as good as a late FW Max2. Which is not horrible and has good BSM filtering.

Maybe an optical illusion (based on the power socket on the side) but does it look smaller and more compact than the 360c?

That might be a plus in my book...

Here's a size comparison when they called it a GT-360.

They are still legal. I can still buy it in online stores like М.видео and have it delivered or pick up at the store in Moscow. No need to hide it within the dashcam. The radar jammers are illegal, not detectors.

This is your fantasy about RD market of Russia and insurance with DVR.

I think Cobra Road Scout is not Escort engineering mind :(

The DualPro could be interesting for Cobra. Albeit a little higher in the margin than most of their consumers are used to paying. Id be interested in a gt360 / DP360 comparison as i was looking for GT a little bit back but everywhere was out of stock. Not sure i can bring myself to pay that much for a "Cobra" but who knows?

FUNNY Cobra.com is blocked on Government networks :)
Makes sense since GI Joe has been fighting them forever, and knowing is half the battle ;)

Pay the price that Cobra is asking will catch on I think. I would Never have paid the price I did for an R3 Uniden back in da day. Uniden $300-Really? But I own one now due to the advertising as they did about being longest on the market.t. After all- only a mamba bite is more damaging than a cobra, just not as cool looking,-LOL- People will buy it if its built Ought to be a slogan-right?

Does anyone remember the study that Escort put out asking for input on future devices? Clearly the Road Scout is a product of that study based on the look. The features are also lock step with some of the questions being asked in the study.

Pretty cool to see a finished product from that input!

Excellent point. Kinda like a Uniden was the Hyundai of radar detectors for years. Then all of a sudden, went upscale and in theory up quality. Certainly went up in price for high end (my G90 fits. Take that Audi koolaid drinkers [joking]). Who would of thought of a $600 Uniden in 2010-12.

So something interesting is that product was in development long before that study was released online. I’m actually a little surprised it was sent out as late in the development cycle as it did. I also thought it would be more like a feasibility study, but they already had the product well into development and had prototypes running and everything by then.
