Maybe they could take a second look at the "dual antenna" and "dual LNA" comment as well while they're at it.
Looks like they've fixed that reference too.

It feels like Escort would be screwed if it wasn't for RDF members helping to keep them straight, I just don't understand how they function as a company. Soooo many things I just have to do a face palm with them.

They should at least send a check to XYD for forum expenses .

I've never seen a company re-release the same products over and over and over again as much as Escort. They have enough trouble writing/updating firmware as it is, now they just keep adding more of the same (with minor changes) that most likely require even more work. If you have a product that works, just keep selling it. Look at the V1, been the same for a very long time and still holding strong due to the reputation.

Take the 'Passport', they removed the BT and called it an 'x70', then brought it back later "introducing" BT calling it the 'x80'. I really would love to know where their marketing rep got their degree lol.

It will be interesting to see how this compares to the GT360 version in testing if/when that happens.
Say it with me, "Belscrobra."

I remember back when escort bought cobra. It was asked whether escort would boost cobra up in the quality department OR cobra would bring the escort products down. HUH
I thought it was Cobra that bought Escort, but I was wrong. It was Monomy (who owned Escort) that merged the two.

I have tested a GT360 and it was really nice. Quiet and the range was very good on that unit. Better than my 360c even. So I thjnk this will be a nice unit for the Cobra name and it does seem that Cobra is getting a much needed facelift after being taken over by Escort. When would Cobra in the last ever have been offering units like this? So I’m glad to see that Cobra is getting good units now. That’s assuming the dual pro performs like the GT360 did which I expect it will.

I just got a little more info about the Road Scout. The RD is based on an updated version the DSP9200BT which means that the performance should actually be pretty good.

Compared to the DSP9200BT, they're adding their updated IVT filtering and the Defender database. So on a positive note, this one should perform alright and not leak all over the place. :)

It won’t perform as well as the Dual Pro as far as sensitivity but it should still be sufficient and it does have WiFi (the roadscout)

I’d like to try both of these but unfortunately funds are lacking to allow that at the moment. Lol. Eventually hopefully I’ll get to. I am looking forward to the results. The Dual Pro I think will do quite well with range seeing that it’s a GT360 rebadged.

That's good to hear!

Do you know if the WiFi is only for downloading videos from the dashcam, or does it support any radar functionality (eg live alerts, updates)?

Cobra is well known and probably has sold more detectors than any other company combined over the years just selling cheapo paper weights at Walmart and such. I even got one before I knew what I was doing many years ago. Lol.

So the name is well known and Escort/Beltroncis is using that to their advantage and building good detectors and putting that Cobra name on there. They’ll sell lots of them and probably sell even better when people notice they actually work well now too. Lol.

To me it’s somehwat exciting that now we aren’t laughing about Cobra and actually talking about real detectors. So it’s a good thing for Cobra IMO.

Yeah I noticed the horn internals matched the 9200BT so it'll be a nice RD... basically a cheaper digital unit.

Well, I've NEVER! hoomph. :)
-- Double Post Merged: --

Looks like a Cobra-branded Max360/GT-360 and a hybrid RD/dashcam, both retailing for $450. We've seen the Cobra Scout before, but this is the first time I've heard of the DualPro.

Cobra DualPro 360°

Engineered in the U.S., the new Cobra DualPro 360° is a true connected 360° radar and laser detector that alerts drivers of traffic enforcement on their journey, including red light cameras, speed cameras, radar-based live speed enforcement locations and other road threats. Exclusive In-Vehicle Technology™ (IVT) filter (recognition of false alerts resulting from other vehicles radar-based ADAS systems), patented AutoLearn® technology, and GPS-based filtering prevent false alerts and improves location accuracy to provide drivers with timely, up-to-date conditions.

Key features of the Cobra DualPro 360°:
  • Front and rear advanced sensors
  • 360° directional alert arrows
  • Updatable Defender GPS database
  • Updatable IVT Filter and Advanced DSP to reduce false alerts and improve accuracy
  • Customizable high-resolution multi-color graphic display
  • Wirelessly connects to the iRadar app for community-based alerts and speed limits
The Cobra DualPro 360° and Cobra Road Scout Elite allow drivers to automatically report and access road hazards and activity through the next generation iRadar app, which generates 100 million sensor-based alerts annually, to build the dynamic road conditions database that is accessible to all iRadar-enabled products from Cobra.

Cobra Road Scout Elite

The 2-in-1 Cobra Road Scout Elite includes a high-definition dash cam and highly accurate radar and laser detection system. The Cobra Road Scout contains sensors to detect live radar-based speed enforcement locations, while also alerting drivers of upcoming red light and speed cameras utilizing the Cobra and ESCORT Defender Database. In addition, the Cobra Road Scout is a connected radar, which means it can connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot for automatic in-vehicle software and GPS database updates.

The integrated dash cam lets drivers record their trip with crystal-clear, editable video that automatically embeds the location, date and time. The dash cam can help drivers tell their side of the story for insurance claims or incidents, allow parents of teen drivers to see footage of their teen’s driving behaviors, or just record the road ahead for fun. The new Cobra Road Scout’s design complements any dashboard – car, truck or SUV – and can be easily installed by the driver. Its incorporated Wi-Fi transmitter also allows the user to view, edit and share videos from their smartphone.

Key features of the Cobra Road Scout Elite:

Radar Detector
  • Maximum False Alert Filtering for improved Accuracy: filters out radar frequencies from new vehicles’ Collision Avoidance Systems and other ADAS systems as well as patented AutoLearn® technology to self-correct from sensors that create false alerts
  • GPS-based filtering prevents false alerts and improves location accuracy to provide drivers with timely, up-to-date conditions
  • Defender Database alerts drivers in advance to red light and speed camera locations
  • Superior range, response time & accuracy, powered by high tech sensors and advanced DSP technology
  • Connected car Wi-Fi compatible for live, in-car software and Defender Database updates
  • Wirelessly connects to the Cobra iRadar app for community-based alerts and speed limits
Dash Camera
  • Full HD 1080p video, optimized for day or night recording
  • Drive HD app enables drivers the ability to view, edit and share videos directly from their smartphones via the Road Scouts embedded Wi-Fi
  • Internal GPS records speed and location information on all video files
  • Continuous loop recording
  • Automatic video saving upon impact with a 16 GB Micro SD card

There's a big difference between a $50 Cobra and a $450 Cobra. We'll have to see what sales channels they offer them through, but I'm sure the sales will be nowhere near comparable as they're priced too high to be "impulse buys" (at least for the general public).
