Hey Guys!

We just finished up installing a HiFi 5 head ALP system on this gorgeous CLS along w/ a hardwired Radenso Pro M, The ALP system consists of 2 RX Sensors + 1 TX sensor up front, and 1 RX + 1 TX (with mask) in rear! We kept it simple with the controller by surface mounting it, and hid the LED inside an air vent. The CPU was mounted to an ABS bracket we built to keep everything tidy and serviceable, and the GPS antenna got a custom stainless steel bracket that was nutserted in place. The front TX was cut into the center grille logo to keep it centered and for a custom look, it is also completely serviceable if needed to be adjusted or removed (no hot glue was involved). The back lip where the rear shifters are mounted has a steep slope, so we built small mounts from Sintra (composite material) to mount the shifters to that allowed us to level them properly. Our tech Chris Labonte did a killer job on this car as usual, and after testing w/ a Compact DE w/ ECCM on, it performs extremely well!

This Benz will be here on display at our open house this saturday!

Thanks!

Austin

That TX install :bravo:
Thank you very much, it was a bit stressful for chris since the emblem is convexed, but it turned out killer!

Very nicely done Austin. Your tech did a 1st class job.

Wish I would be able to make the open house.
Chris definitely did a killer job! No worries at all, if you're ever in Red Deer, swing by sometime!

Well done again guys! Make sure to tell Chris that RDF thinks he’s awesome at what he does! I’d probably pay money just to watch him work and take notes! Haha

How did he cut the emblem so cleanly?

There were multiple steps involved, this was the 2nd step, the last was hand filing and wet sanding.

@VibeCarAudio Nice work!

I really like how you manufacture the brackets in-house for a flawless installation!

Thank you very much pwrpuma! We do utilize the ALP brackets on parts of the install, but we typically build a lot of our own that work together with them!

@VibeCarAudio i have been meaning on doing a head install like that on my car but the front emblems are special and ceramic because there's a radar module behind them. Was there a radar unit behind that one and if so, was it's performance impacted?

Also, an idea for a future install (another alternative I'm looking into) is remaking the emblem out of ir transparent perspex and a white vinyl emblem on top.

There was a radar module behind it, but we were able to place the TX below it so it did not interfere. We also thought of doing the new center piece in Acrylic and getting the logo laser etched, but its not flat, it is pretty convexed, which is the main reason we decided not to. On another note, we're currently working on a C7 Z06, and are using IR Acrylic on it!

Do you have anymore photos of the rear setup? Im curious as to what you meant by "with mask"
I don't sorry, but a mask is a dummy RX head that the TX sensor sits inside so the RX and TX sensors match each other. It looks goofy and hurts our OCD to have a small TX beside a RX sensor.

Sooo this happened to our client this weekend, Luckily he was unharmed! Looks like we will have it back in the shop soon to re-do the front shifters!
