OMG, I had not seen the Yelp one's, Martha's getting her sphincter spanked, to quote one comment "Easily the rudest, most illogical, vapid individual I've ever had the pleasure of trying to work with.".... DAAAAMN, tell us how you 'really' feel. After reading so many comments, mentioning experience with her by name, and to know she's still there.... hmm "Martha has photos of someone with barn yard animals", that's all I'm saying. Why would you allow this style of personality be the one to be your representative on the phone.. Wow...

I don't read that site due to horror stories I've heard about businesses getting bad reviews if they refuse to advertise with them.. but I saw this... and with all what I've been saying, I'm glad I'm not the only one that looks at the upgrade offer that way but I do have to say one thing.

IT WASN'T ME!!!!! Honest... I didn't post that, it's exactly what I've been complaining about but I didn't do it, honest... LOL.. it's easy to prove..... he has friends. ;)

Whew, I read all the comments on Yelp, some including email screen shots.... I'm blown away by some of the accusations made (allegedly) against customers. I had NO idea their interactions were so toxic. I purchased my detector directly from them so have no problem with the serial number issue but the way the treated people, beyond disgraceful.

Do we have a Uniden R7 retailer who's a sponsor on the forum that I can support. I'm done, that is just way out of line....

This is the end results of being a controller. Mike and his wife will not hire and train employees to do the customer service end of the business. He does not use GPS as it will put a part in his RD that he would need to pay a royalty on every unit sold. Most engineers I've come in contact with were very bright OCD individuals but none were stand up comics that took over the room.. Mike and his wife have always taken care of anything we needed but it is true they can be rough around the edges and it's going to be their way or the highway. Maybe you should picture being of a high IQ answering the same redundant questions over and over for 25 years and then tell me what your personality would evolve into over time. Shame on them for not putting a buffer between the owner and the customer as OCD people take simple questions as critical remarks and that goes to the 10th power if it's an OCD owner, She may not be light hearted or funny but they made a great product and that's all that matters to me.

↑ Although I've never had the misfortune of clashing with VR, I can believe that a percentage of reports are true.

It probably wouldn't hurt them to have a public relations oriented person in that situation.

100%

Ill take a solid well made reliable product from a rough around the edges person than a unreliable and flawed product from the nicest person in the world.

It seems people are way too sensitive and lack the ability to see passed feelings now a days.

I just watched an episode of “the wonder years” where Kevin gets a job at the hardware store. Run by old man “Harris”. The old man is hard man to get along/work with and really doesn’t need Kevin there and gave him 20 cent raise (5c more than the job at the mall). But the knowledge the man knows about hardware is unmatched and is teaching Kevin

The episode reminds me of my first real job and my shop foreman. He was this really old guy that I worked next to. The guy was hard on me, even came over once to watch me fill coolant into the radiator. “He said if u need a funnel to fill coolant u shouldn’t be turning wrenches”. I wanted to knock him out. That night I took an empty windshield washer jug home and filled it up water and practice pouring water down the little drain.

Over time, I started to break thru his though skin and he became a father to me. I had the crappiest hoist in the shop and though I had opportunities to move into another bay. I stayed next to the old man. The guy taught me lots and made me better. (To this day I rarely use a funnel unless absolutely needed on anything)

I have griped about mike not adding features to the V1 like other detectors and I’ll be the first the admit. I lost sight of something. And that is mikes knowledge and his beliefs. I honestly don’t believe mike didn’t put gps in his detector because of not wanting to pay licensing fees. I believe him when he says he doesn’t believe in it.

Mike and his wife might be a little rough around the edges. But their knowledge is A1 and not just about radar waves. The entire aspect of the radar detector and more. And if say the part is indeed a button. Rest assure mike won’t compromise and put inferior or cheap parts in his detector. Mike doesn’t continue to make radar detectors cause he needs the money. I firmly believe he continues to make detectors because he wants the ppl that have quality product no different today as it was 25 years ago.

Just trust the old guy

And straight up I’m not a V1 fanboy/zombie. I’m a radenso/uniden Guy now. But I will give mike the V1 the “fluff” as well as the “nuff”

grow up. ... Your entire post is nothing but slamming people and adds nothing to the conversation. ...with no other purpose than to sling names ... Go spend your time interacting with people who care ...
Might be best to take a breather, because you’re coming in hot.

Now that you mention it, a couple people in this thread should probably step back and practice their breathing exercises.

Posted something in intermediate level- go check. :)

For those that don’t have access yet, waiting on parts is still the stated reason and sometime in July- which is nothing new and has already been reported here.

Not sure you understood my main message. Can't get parts out of China until we get a trade deal signed which may be this weekend. Hopefully.

The V1 went out of stock prior to the tariffs going into effect. Tariffs only raise prices on imports, and those increased costs are usually passed on to the consumer. The trade war is not related to whatever is going on at VR.

I don't need to support places that treat even one of you like you're a thief.
Yet again, why are you on here? This is the VR forum, we like VR. If we didn't we'd be on another forum.

I called Valentine this morning

A different woman answered. One I’ve never talked to before

When they resume selling the V1 it will be updated cosmetically / display and software and hardware updates. That’s all she would say. I tried :)

Price will be going up $400-something
You heard it HERE first! :hfive:

The lines between fact, fiction, and rumor
are beginning to get blurred.

Is the post below fact, fiction or just a gag? I’m a little skeptical. @H8Bbluelights is this for real? I’ll believe you if you say so. I don’t like hit and run rumor posts.

What do ya think?
Will it have MRCD detection capability and built in GPS?
Or... will their customers still need a cell phone and apps...
I'm quite fine with using a cell phone and apps. Having the alerts overlay on top of Waze are pretty darn convenient.
