Just called and the lady answered and asked her when are they going to to be available,. Was told July as they were waiting on parts to be delivered still and the last ship date was April 10. No customer returns in stock either. Just thought I'd update.

Something's not quite right. Cash flow??...
It's not that, the owner recently made a sizeable donation to his alma mater and has been paying to submit and re-submit some patents.

@Transporter has speculated that it's a parts shortage issue on a specific custom made electrical component (the volume/mute lever button).

Maybe there's more to it, we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah agree - anyways. Hope we can close this thread soon (given how the other threads have turned out about this topic) (I feel like we will be talking about what color underwear Mike Valentine wears and how that ties back to the "parts shortage"... if this thread goes on for a few days)

I really doubt it’s the button. It has to be another part. Say my V1 was made in 2008. I can’t send it in for an update. Pretty sure mike doesn’t change buttons on every V1 that gets sent back to the mothership. If my detector was made after 2012. No problems on getting a reflash.

Just seems odd, your main product that you need to sell to support all your other product sales goes to zero for two months. How do you pay your employees? Maybe one less salary, whomever screwed up the supplier situation... With multiple cars set up it sure makes me nervous.
Happy motoring.

old money. Money in does not have to equal money out...

Meaning.. they probably put a sizable amount into their bank account each month and can run on that for a while....

No, they send you a brand new detector with all of the accessories (which is why the update costs $279). Since new detectors are currently out of stock, they can't offer upgrades for older detectors right now. The $79 firmware update for more recent detectors is still available though.

Bingo

Valentine is a small company that has a very low overhead since they have been around so long. Even if they have 15 employees with average of $75k salary they are looking at $100k/mo in payroll. Plus benefits, taxes, etc, they are at maybe $150k all in/mo. Three months of payroll with no revenue is 450k.....by comparison, the Valentines just gave $5 million to the University of Cincinnati.

What do they do with all the old parts?

Like at this juncture. Wouldn’t it be better to replace the parts needed vs not being able to do anything.

They likely recycle the common parts into into the "customer returns resale" bin... They are fresh out of those as well tho...

I ain't sayin a thing... not a thing to all those who commented about my concerns, saying they owe us nothing and it's their right in April telling us it would be May, then being told June, now being told July... so we'll be closer to 1/2 a year out of stock than to 1/4 of a year... well my birthday is June 29th and sadly I've decided that if there's no stock or some respect given via an update on the site (we shouldn't have to call to hear this BS delay nonsense), I'm done with V and will sell the one I have now, skip the plans to upgrade it and skip the plans to purchase a second unit for the other car.

This sheep's done being sheered, shorn..... I thought we were friends.... I thought we were friends Valentine..... :(

in April telling us it would be May, then being told June, now being told July... so we'll be closer to 1/2 a year out of stock than to 1/4 of a year...
In an effort to be accurate:
It will be 3 to 4 months based on what we know right now. 1/4 to 1/3 a year. Closer to 1/2 at this point? I wouldn't say that until month 5 if it were me. I think in decimal equivalents though. 0.25 to 0.33 vs 0.50.

If this is a supply problem / trade agreement issue, be sure to get angry at VR for it...

Since they already said July and you want June 29th, why wait to sell your existing stuff? Just get it over with and move on. :)

Thanks for the update. I know that this subject has been discussed a lot, and I know everyone is waiting and watching to see if there will be any updates to the V1 when it is back in stock. Will it be the exact same unit before it went out of stock? Will it have internal performance updates? Will it have internal updates and external changes (new display)? There is a lot of speculation, and inquiring minds want to know, but we will all have to wait until the V1 is back in stock to know the answer. I am curious to know the answer too because I would like to get another V1.
