The challenge here is to replace the Redline in the family vehicle. It was originally going to be a fast car and now the boss and management have an (unmodified) quick, safe, family car... They said these false alerts are out and I don't like swapping detectors around. I need something good enough for me, but the boss will using it too. Really the biggest features I need are good detection and good filtering. No big deal. :p GPS, lockouts, and all of that are not required; are nice, though.

Filtering: I can't have the detector screaming and barking at automatic doors and other cars (along with the kids and the dog).
Range; they aren't always in the car. Plus what is the point of a crappy detector.

I Really like the size. If it was thinner it would be even better.
Display is very basic. Felt very old school in a way, but easy enough..
Basic had me nervous of when there are multiple sources and traps. Nothing to really report yet.
Filtering, awesome. Super quiet ride. Didn't have to touch the detector once after it was set up. (changed speeds to my preferences)
Auto City and speed settings. Superb. Didn't have to touch the detector once after it was set up.
Ramp up was actually pretty good. Smart detector.
The size of the detector. Seriously. Awesome.
Would like the mount to be a little smarter. Just looked like Dumbo with those suction cups on that mount. Maybe make it smaller, maybe a mini 1-suction mount? Something.
Driving around with it, it wasn't obtrusive, it took no effort to use, it only alerted when there was actually something to see. Elegant.
Got a couple of hits around town, range was good enough to stay out of a little trouble so far.

Got a few miles on it running around today. Seems like I kept taking the scenic route once I installed it.. So anyway, Local PD seemed to turn off their radar sometime last week compared to the 2 weeks before. (R7 got a pretty good test run), so it might take a little while to get a good feel for the Pro M and see what it can really do. Ready to see it in action on more highways and some rural roads over the next week.

If you are looking for good filtering and range the Pro M should fit you well. You will not get the performance you would have from the R7 but it’s enough to save you from tickets. I deal with very tough terrain and went from a R3 to a R CM and I’m very happy. The one thing that I do miss about my R3 is the accurate frequency display.

I have a Pro-M and love it. Filtering is awesome, and range is very good if not great.
I absolutely do not care about accurate frequency display, so that feature has no
appeal for me. If you want that, I reckon Uniden is the way to go.
I have a couple of K-Band lockouts plugged in, and I do like that feature.
The size factor isn't mentioned much by users or reviewers, but I love the small size.
Mine's hard-wired and on the factory visor mount.

So quick update. Still no freeway or rural highway action. :shifty: Been looking for trouble....

Took the wife out, went to the mall and purposely drive through town a little to trigger some noise. Never touched it. Quiet as a mouse. She said “wow that thing IS quiet, I like this one”.

So I still have to put it through it’s paces to be sure and give the stamp of approval, but so far so good.

Mine runs right along with my Redline. Though it didn't test as a top unit it still is awesome.

Ever since TX eliminated red light cameras just a couple weeks ago this detector is best. The alert system for RLC on the Pro M is obnoxious and I’ve complained about it. Now I can simply turn it off. And I did. But I do like arrows. And auto lockouts. Next iteration maybe.

Another quick update. New K band speed sign on one of my daily routes. The Pro M actually outperformed the R7 in the same spot with similar traffic. The R7 grabs the signal just before I can see it, usually. The Pro M gave me a couple hundred feet of extra range. Very nice.

Got some 33.8 hits from OHSP running CO around town in some very light traffic.. detector saw them before we saw eachother, so I was pleased. Still nothing interesting to report on the freeway; it is the middle of the month, kind of a slow time to test a detector.

How far back do you have your R7 k band throttled?

Advanced mode, 100%. K Filter and the K Block are enabled.

On Pro M I turned off POP and changed the speed settings for AutoCity and all that to my liking (edit, I didn't explain it very well, so I'll just leave it at "I changed the speeds"). That's it.

You have K wide open on your R7? Mine would never shut up if I did that. :)

I think I had mine at 40% on advanced.

Yes, wide open. Lots of K where I run around. Lots of hills, turns, trees. Some challenging terrain by some measure... The only band that I face less is X- because it is not used where I live but definitely is still used where I work and commute.

And by challenging terrain I mean a hell of a lot of fun. But you get my meaning.

Mostly wondering because my R7 and R3 both outperformed (the R7 more) my Pro M in K band detection. But that was at 100% also. I can’t live with the R7 at 100% k band. I only did that for the testing.

This was just one speed sign but I really was taken back, why I shared it. It started beeping and I was like...'wha?' I'll be testing the Pro M a little longer before it goes to the other car or back. So far, looks like it is going to get bumped to the family car.

So another little update on my Pro M experience thus far:
One negative I have noticed, the volume could stand to be louder or the tones more obnoxious. Windows down and/or radio loud and the tones don't seem to cut through the noise very well..
I guess I could roll up the windows and turn the radio down... but where is the fun in that? Volume might be more acceptable in the family car, we tend to leave the windows up and ride around with the AC on more than I do by myself.

The Uniden tones are way better than the Radenso ones. The Ka bird chirp is the tits. I think the Radenso K and Ka tones are hard to distinguish at first.

As for the volume I don’t have any experience with the Pro M. The R CM speaker is very loud.

The tones are definitely not the same as what you get used to from a lot of the other brands.

So the tones aren't as loud as I would like and they are not obnoxious (don't cut through other noises very well) but I am leaning towards this would take away from the elegance factor. When it did alert it was not startling (which is great for the passengers). When my other detectors start making noise passengers look sick to their stomach, like I am deploying some kind of psychological warfare in the car.

I've got a pro m as well and absolutely love it! It's really small which allows it to be put up by my rear view mirror (only detector I have ever owned which can fit there) and still allows the sun visor to fold down without any interference which is awesome! Filtering is great too and I don't miss the false alerts from other detectors at all.

There are pleasant tones for the R7 like 10 and a few others, but i find it hard to hear so i stick to 2 and 3

Radenso and the people behind it are great, just a bit boring for my taste, i love the busy display on the R7 .

For me the detector is as much of a toy as it is a tool so it has to be fun to look at

So another little update, been continuing to enjoy the filtering. Compared to my other detectors this thing is super quiet when I want it to be. Still need some freeway results, though.. I might roll the dice on Monday; I know of a few state troopers that run radar on the way to the station every morning. But it means I leave for work late and make up 10+ minutes on a ~30 mile commute (yes, I run hot).

Another positive note, I really like how Radenso are so involved in this community of enthusiasts. I mean we basically have direct access to them through the forum, and they seem like pretty stand up guys. Innovators. I like their spirit and what seems to be their direction (up, forward).

Just me thinking out loud, I am concerned it will have been a lot of money for the Pro M to be yesterday’s news before the new detector smell wears off. These are exciting times in the CM industry. I’m sure there are a lot of people here that can afford to take that hit, but I’m not one of them.
