So I ran the app for the first time this AM on my commute down the highway. It does work as advertised with the waze alerts and i love the longer alert distances.

comments from my run: Need to have integrated map that can tell the road you are on (you mentioned this already) My area the highways have a lot of exits and side streets (and in places adjacent highways near each other) so I was getting a bunch of alerts from roads I wasn't on. I do like getting the advanced warning of the real traps though. and I do like seeing the traps not on my road with the arrows, just would like maybe the ones on my road to be say one color and ones off my road to be gray or something. Alert tone is attention grabbing but I can say with no doubt my wife would toss my phone out the window instantly if that was going off on a drive, it got to me after a moment too. Could we maybe add some additional tone options (i know Independent app volume was already requested, which would be great too) and perhaps an option for voice alerts say every half mile leading to the threat ("Police reported in 1.5 miles", "police reported in 1 mile" etc as one of the optional tones rather than just a bunch of various forms of beeping? I would probably still use this on some of the rural highways around me perhaps on a second device as I still like seeing waze for traffic alerts and such

@thebravo, thanks for your feedback

Need to have integrated map that can tell the road you are on
This is not that easy to implement but this is still in my plans.

just would like maybe the ones on my road to be say one color and ones off my road to be gray or something
Doing this with a high accuracy isn't really trivial, however I'll do my best to make this feature go live.

Alert tone is attention grabbing but I can say with no doubt my wife would toss my phone out the window instantly if that was going off on a drive, it got to me after a moment too.
I'm going to publish a version with adjustable volume today. Selecting a custom tone shouldn't be that hard to implement, will to to do something about it.

and perhaps an option for voice alerts say every half mile leading to the threat ("Police reported in 1.5 miles", "police reported in 1 mile" etc as one of the optional tones rather than just a bunch of various forms of beeping?
Interesting how this may work when there are tons of police around. I'll think about the best way of implementing this.

This one may only work well if you add in the built in map feature, then it can call out the ones on your road and not the others... without the built in maps it's a little harder to use for the Waze alerts in my area as the roads are just too close together, but yes that is harder to integrate for sure. When I'm on rural drives it will be useful and for now I will certainly use it for aircraft alerts which is my main concern as I can deal with standard Waze for now, I just check the screen for blue pins ahead rather than waiting for the audio alerts as they are usually too late.

Everyone should be aware that some have noticed that VVaze sometimes forgets to show LEO alerts while this app (I'd expect) and JBV1 will still show those alerts.

Anyone know the SDK version on this? If it's low enough, I'll probably be running it all the time on my old phone (REALLY OLD!). I bought a phone mount for it and I used to use it for the first TMG update app but now it's no longer supported and it's sitting and collecting dust.

It's definitely below 20, can't remember if it was ICS (4.0) or Jelly Bean (4.3). Trust me, it's old :roflolmao:

Well, setting an old device with this app as a second screen is the fairly legit case I haven't thought about (I use Android Auto as a second screen). Need to find my old HTC Desire with Android 2.3 on board for testing =)

Hmmm. I could dig out my Galaxy S4 for this, continue to use my Moto G5s+ for JBV1, audio and serving Android Auto, and use my Android Auto screen for VVaze.

Tbh the tiny screen is perfect for displaying things on my small windshield. Kind of like Stinger with it's screen

Just installed and used it for a 30 mile trip. Daze alerted to a LEO but nothing popped on the app for that particular LEO. I did, however, see 2 alerts in the app for 4+ and 9+ miles away.

Hm, that is strange. Was the LEO actually there? Maybe that was an old stale alert that already went away from the app but was still in the Waze application.

Agreed. That happens on occasion with JBV1 too.

Additionally, a certain set of circumstances can make this scenario look like a failed alert when it really isn't.

Driver ahead marks LEO
You arrive at that spot before app has collected info.

OR

Driver A ahead marks LEO
Driver B ahead unmarks LEO because he/she doesn't see it

App collects info right after Driver B's unmark propagates

Driver C ahead marks LEO
You arrived at the spot before app has collected new info from Driver C.

Installed this app yesterday and it works as advertised. I love the filtering out of uninteresting aircraft. One suggestion; while the app is backgrounded it would helpful if it could pop into foreground during an alert automatically to save fiddling manually with the phone.

I really like this idea, thanks a lot! It is also important, however, to avoid it going to the foreground on some tough intersection while GPS is guiding you through it. Probably doing it only while you're going above low-speed muting threshold should help with avoiding such cases.
