Having run both at the same time for roughly 400 miles, I can see how a perception of one being "better" than the other is an easy assumption to make for both apps.
Some will like the 10 mile CSA visual in all directions on the screen and the configurable beeping alert distance of Highway Radar and others will prefer the 1-3 mile alert with user configurable angles and single announcements of JBV1.
(I recently dropped my CSA alerts from 2.5 and 3 miles back to 2 miles in JBV1 because I realized I was starting to ignore/forget the alert before I got to it. Too much info from too far away.)

Both apps are presumably getting the same CSA data and both need for us to continue to contribute to the data source or else the data fades away.
Both apps are also providing a great service to all of us as we avoid the driving tax collectors!
My recommendation is to choose which app you are most comfortable with; but definitely choose one of them, use them, and contribute to the data stream! (Because we are the experts at spotting and understanding LEO behaviors)

Perhaps you misconfigured your filter(s) and are comparing filtered results to unfiltered results. JBV1 gets data directly from every source (no intermediate server to break down), but only lists the few closest threats from each threat category.
Maybe, it is new to me as I don't have a V1. The thing I noticed was the Vascar aircraft/alert didn't always show, I was watching the plane circle and comparing it to the alert. I changed the source to A + B instead of Auto and it helped some, I will investigate the setting more.

If you think one or more filters is not working properly and you'd like to discuss and/or help me fix, please start a thread in JBV1 section and include your current filter settings.

Just published v1.6 to the Play Store

The main feature of this version is a support Android's picture-in-picture mode for Android 7+. This allows to view Highway Radar alerts on top of another application (e.g. navigation). This is a very similar to how Google Maps work. To activate just press home button in the application while monitoring is active.

Another important feature is that now you can specify fadeout interval for police alerts (e.g. don't show me police alerts older that X minutes). By default this value is set for 30 minutes which matches default Waze timeout.

Also there are some UI fixes and improvements.

Note, it may take some time for the update to be delivered (sometimes up to 24h).

So I ran HR on a 850 mile motorcycle ride this weekend to the UP of Michigan, it worked wonderfully! I actually ran it in the background with VVaze in foreground, it would alert and give a pop-up notice to give me advanced notice instead an almost worthless half mile that VVaze gives you.

Whoever has not tried this App is missing out!

I do the same as of lately but unless I'm actually using Waze for navigation and expect lots of turns, etc. I just use it in the background with HR in the foreground! :)

Can this site be 'read' like you scan daze based on location?
And just display active speed cameras & maybe red light cameras?

This is absolutely possible though there are not many votes for this feature yet. Now I'm working on analyzing historical data. Not as easy process as I expected tbh =)

@ferius i had a chance to use your app on a pretty long commute (a bit over 300mi).

I just wanted to say I love the simplicity of it and how easy it is to set up and use. Also the minimalistic map is way cool.

The picture in picture mode works very well, thanks for that.
It's a beautiful app and only getting better.

I don't want to de-rail this thread. I will simply say to those who might be able to develop a similar app for iOS: there is interest!

I also noticed the PIP part after I updated the app as well. VERY nice! Its small but very efficient in information. Bravo!

I haven't been able to run a detector in my work vehicle lately due to risk of interference, so I have been so much more reliant on this app.

I'll be honest, JBV1's map is far superior in terms of customizability and usability, but HR's overall refinement is incredible. I don't own a V1, so my access to JBV1 had been limited. With the release of the new offline mode for JBV1 (thanks @johnboy00!), I had been conflicted on which app to run. But now with the picture in picture compatibility, I can run both. :hellyeah:

I've sent over a few American Pesos to show my appreciation. Can't spare much right now, but I hope it helps. Keep up the excellent work!

P.S.
The aircraft filtering is absolutely on point.

I have tried Highway Radar on a 250 mile trip today and like it. Would like to use it on every trip. I see there is a autostart option and turned it on for the last half of the trip but it didn't autostart. I'll have to check into what permissions I need to turn on to Highway Radar autostart. If I do get it to autostart will it keep running/monitoring if I am stationary for a specific time? Or will I have to hit stop monitoring?

There is a "start monitoring automatically" under general in the newer version. And yes it will keep monitoring even if your stopped, etc. I leave it running when out on the bike and I get off the bike, etc. It will NOT stop running until you manually hit stop monitoring even if minimized or the phone is locked, etc! ;)
