Hmmmmm. Maybe my next smartphone should be an Android. :hmm: Count me in for sure if you develop an iOS version!

I use a 3rd party tiles provider (they use osm as a backend) for styled map display. If they turn out to use that outdated information, I'll definitely consider switching the provider or setting up my own one.
That would explain it. I bet that third party is storing outdated information on their server.

Here's some screenshots of what I was talking about.

Well, let me tell you. This app is an absolute life saver. Driving through the lover's bumhole (ie 81 in va), state LEOs are covering each other by removing police markers so it doesn't show in Waze (or something else is going on). About 5 of 6 (now 7 as I type) saves were not showing on Waze. 4 Ka 35.5 and 34.7 (what radar detector? It's just my bullshitometer senses tingling :shifty: ). Maybe one LEO using Lidar but I don't have my jammers on my dad's car so idk...

Definitely recommended for VA.

I have thought about this a few times going down I-81. I'm like "they are removing each others icons from Waze". Don't put anything past VSP. LOL

Just imagine how much better off our countries would be if law enforcement put half as much energy into crime fighting as they waste on speed enforcement. Of course if they're staring at Waze finding and deleting reports they can't be simultaneously aiming their laser guns, so there's that I guess...

So you want them to actually do what is on the side of their car!? "Serve and protect"!? The humanity! :shifty:

Officer.com I think is run by a Virginia LEO. He recommends officers use Waze to put up fake reports and cover each other.

Big thanks for donation, I really appreciate it!

BTW, in the meantime I've just pushed a new server code, also pulling data from OpenSky in addition to ADSBx. Now aircraft alerts should still be available during ADSBx downtime.

I have a feature request which should be pretty easy to implement. In the areas I normally use Highway Radar (the IN Toll Road), LEOs rarely sit in the same trap spots for more than a few minutes at a time. With all the Daze 30 min old data, HR is constantly going nuts.

I'd like to see an adjustable limit to the age of reports. Like the ability to limit to reports made in the last 10 minutes only.

Hey everyone,

First of all I want to appoligise for being out for more than promised since got couple unexpected business trips to the other side of the globe, so I really didn't have time to work on the Highway Radar. I hope, that for the next couple months I will be able to spend time on the application.

Besides I'd like to introduce a new app release. There are two main improvements with the version 1.5:
  • Added three different components layouts: standard one which was used before, the one for landscape and one more for split-screen (with a very narrow bottom bar)
  • Added an option to stop the monitoring automatically when app goes to background
The release should be rolled out to all active devices within a day.

Also I'd like to comment on aircraft alerts crashes happened during July. There are actually two reasons for that.

There were two really major crashes lasting for several hours. In that cases my server had some hardware problems. I'm about to launch a backup server with a different provider soon to prevent such issue in future.

There were also several 10-20 minutes outages for those who didn't specify an FR24 server – they were caused by ADSBx downtime which means that Highway Radar had zero working data sources. Now the server also pulls data from Opensky Network which doesn't cause any aircraft alert downtime while ADSBx is down. This also means that once you configure FR24 server you'll be getting aircraft data from 3 data sources: ADSBx, OpenSky and FR24.

I was in Ohio this weekend and decided to play with the App, it was VERY useful with Vascar, there was action near my travels. I have to mess with App more to see if when running in the background it will alert and pop up to show me alerts, does it do this?

I have been playing with the newer JBV1 App that works offline without a V1 but the Highway Radar App was more consistent and accurate with alerts.

Nice Job on the App so far!

It should as long as your phone isn't in "Don't disturb" mode.
My phone is set to silent and with the media volume up a bit it works and alerts just fine even with the screen locked as well! ;)

With don't disturb mode you still get a sound but no push notification on alert.

Perhaps you misconfigured your filter(s) and are comparing filtered results to unfiltered results. JBV1 gets data directly from every source (no intermediate server to break down), but only lists the few closest threats from each threat category.
