Suggestions, 1) Yesterday there was a plane alert. Almost went unnoticed because I was on the freeway and a Z28 had thrown down a challenge. Anyway it would be nice if planes had a different color arrow - light or medium blue?
And (2) my android connected to the internet through my iPhone. Something happened and it lost the connection and didn’t reconnect. Would be nice if a ‘No Connection’ message popped up.
Currently there’s the tiny message that says last updated x minutes ago. Hard to see and no indication that it’s not being updated. And for inquiring minds, the Charger that accepted the Z’s challenge got his doors blown off. And the plane above us had a front row seat.

I would vouch for both improvements if possible. Both are very critical for keeping you protected at all times. Today I had an airplane alert (Cessna 182 - Civil Air Patrol), and that thing closed in on me faster than I could imagine! It just happen that as I was driving north the aircraft approach from the west, and the app displayed 1.2 miles - I looked to my left and there he was, very low and started making right turn above the road I was onto (moving away, south bound). At that point the app showed a distance of 0.8 miles. It was awesome!

Thanks for you feedback!
Both suggestions are easy to implement so I'll add them in the next version without putting to the poll.

@ferius - After reading of @m3o working with you on an iOS port, it got me wondering if you're planning to open source the project code somewhere central so others can fork it and submit potential changes and improvements? To cover costs for development such as the Apple hardware, you could perhaps accept donations. Thoughts?

For Apple version from me, the question is not about the money but about the fact that I personally won't use it.
Currently I don't have have plans to open-source it in the nearest future (there is a good reason for it, I can't disclose now), however, I do my best to help @m3o release his iOS version ASAP.

I'm in for a iOS version cause I have one for work (ick!). But today I tried running it with my personal phone locked and on the seat and it was enough since I don't have much in the company car except for Waze sooooo it was a nice addition! :)

Still really enjoying the app, thanks @ferius (The auto start scanning is the bomb thnx).

Is there any chance of having the aircraft audio alert slightly different to the Waze police audio alert? Today I got an aircraft alert today and made the mistake of muting it without taking note that it was aircraft. Doh!

Have you tried map display mode btw? Aircraft alerts are much clearer there.

Looking forward to spotting an LEO, however Waze seems to be in limited use here. Not one report of anything by users that I have seen.
When I drive in lightly populated rural areas Daze doesn't have much coverage.
@DC Fluid @G37X Jockey Based on your comments,, give strong consideration for voting for this feature, which is now in the vote list:

123477

I'd give my left nut for this feature/information to supplement weak live coverage. Realizing it would take time for a DB with the data points/history to build.

I’m going to a Bad place when I die... Wife and I were driving yesterday and she looked at the Samsung because it was beeping and asked ‘What does 80 mean on that App?’. Told her there are 80 cops in the area. She was impressed.

LOL.

"Huh... The faster we go, the more police are in the area. The slower we go, the fewer there are. How about that?"

As for now, minimum supported Android version is only going down with releases, I also test applications on Android 4.4 before pushing and try to keep resource-intensive features (like map display) behind some preference. If there are any breaking changes (either for performance or minimum Android support) I'll definitely save the version for download.
All features, including map, seem to work on 5.0.1 on a Galaxy s4.
- note: sometimes crashes in map mode, then restarts automatically.

The app is great and now I don't drive without it running.
A small change to make it more user friendly would be turning Aircraft monitoring on/off from the display screen rather than the settings screen. When I'm in the city I don't need to worry about aircraft, but would love to quickly turn it on before entering a hwy and vice versa.
Thanks again for developing this and being so responsive.

Nice idea, added it to poll.
-- Double Post Merged: --
Just published v1.4 to the Play Store

In this version I've added blue background for aircraft alerts for easier distinguishing them from police alerts. Also added more perceptible connection issues message (try starting monitoring while the phone is in airplane mode to get understanding how this message looks like).
Besides this I made some updates to aircraft server for better FR24 integration.

Note, it may take some time for the update to be delivered (sometimes up to 24h).

P.S. I keep adding new options to the "next feature" poll, so it may be a good idea to re-check it periodically.

P.S. (2) I'll be on vacation for the next three weeks, so won't be able to build new features for this application until the middle of July.

I love the simplicity of the app! One of my favorite things about it is how simple and in turn how stable it is. It's not very hardware intensive and I think you/we should be very careful about adding too many features if they create too much complexity, slowing the app making it unstable and such. This is especially important for people with slower phones or those who run a lot of apps at once. (When I drive I use jbv1, highway Radar, vvaze so I can contribute to the crowdsourcing, and a music app)

VVaze seems to be so dang unreliable to me lately. Half the time I have it running it eventually crashes, and half the time I go to mark a leo it says it's searching for data when I have a great connection. It's been like this on multiple phones and I think it's a result of a pretty bogged down with features app.

I actually snapped a photo today of highway Radar trustily reporting a leo ahead and vvaze by contrast is all clear! I disliked vvaze before this but your app has shown me to never trust vvaze! It fails at reporting its own database reliably. Highway Radar ftw

I have also been experiencing instability and intensive resource usage by waze on my iPhone. When the ios version is available, it will replace waze except for confirming or deleting police reports.

Thanks for the great work and willingness to contribute support towards another operating system.

Wanted to get feedback on the iOS design before writing code. Kept it close to Android version but added some styling changes of my own of my vision for the UI/UX (user interface/user experience). Any feedback helps up front. Would be great to know what iOS devices and version everyone is on too to have a general idea (can PM me as to not hijack this thread).
