I do not recommend using the DB updates from the R1/R3 for the R7 unit.

Well since I can read and convert the entire file into gps coordinates, and the file format and data is compatible with the previous version, at least in this release there is no issue with compatibility.

Later today, I will incorporate the new changes with the previous US gps updates that we made. This new version has likely also added back at least one camera I removed previously, and likewise may not have updated the new camera I also added. My software fully identifies any changes, and also highlights potential conflicts in new updates!

@UnidenSupport

Uniden is doing a great job developing new hardware, and providing continued support and development of those products. I mean this in all honesty and sincerity.
Therefore, I really do not want to detract or take credit for the great work that Uniden is doing.

My efforts aim to really complement that support, and to provide greater assurance and flexibility to the uses of this forum where that is possible.

I have just written some code which is able to verified the complete content of this latest database. I can thereby confirm that all the gps positioning is within acceptable parameters. Likewise I can confirm all the directional alerting, speed and camera type data is also within acceptable parameters. So no new camera types or other data is included in this file, which might cause a difficulty for other Uniden detectors.

I am aware that in some instances (and previously observed during testing of previous versions) that the all-directional alert could cause a conflict with user marks (i.e. no overspeed warning would be announced where there is an overlap between the all directional alert from the database and the user mark). I also concluded that this specific camera type may also possibly have conflicted with the radar detection. However, this new US database does not include any all-directional alerts.

Accordingly, this latest database is fully compatible with the R3 as updated in the latest firmware. This same database is also fully compatible with the other Uniden gps enabled detectors. I.e. the LRD950, DFR7, DFR9, R3, and R7. So therefore there is absolutely no issue of compatibility, as verified by my code for the entire file.

Okay, here is the updated release...

This includes the previous updates made on this thread. It also incorporates all the updates in the latest Uniden US Gps database dated 2019.07.04.
Likewise this has also been verified and will be compatible with the LRD950, DFR7, DFR9, R3, and R7.

Sniff sniff.. I live in Canada. I feel left out :)
Sorry, I'm in New Zealand. What I meant to perhaps make clear is that these Uniden database covers both the US and Canada. If you have any updates needed for Canada, they can be included on here. @UnidenSupport Uniden did a great job when they sat down to design the gps implementation. Their gps database can cover the entire world and also covers both the units of mph and km/h in a single file.

Therefore the alerts in Canada will be based upon km/h whilst those in the US will be based upon mph even though they're included in the same file. So for example you have a 50km/h speed alert at 53.7050285,-113.222168 in Canada, whereas in the USA you get things like a monodirectional camera alert (38.8738899,-76.978363) for 50mph.

I was just having fun with ya and the title of the thread "US GPS Updates" :) But if you can do Canada I will be sure to send off any updates I find along the way. :)

Just had a request to build a database for a guy with an R7 in Iceland. So now we have camera databases for all these Uniden detectors not only in the USA and Canada, but also completely new ones in New Zealand, Australia, Europe, Israel and now in Iceland! I'm going back to the UK at Christmas, so I'll probably do some testing for a UK database also.

The AA Road Atlas of the UK has all the static cams marked with speed limits ;

Static speed camera locations with speed limits are pinpointed
No GPS coords info, but should be pretty upto date in the 2019 version :)

Last Xmas I did in the UK was 2007, and was drizzling, overcast and 13c for 2 weeks, haven't been back for Xmas since then :)

Take your R7 for some Gatso action !

Have two that aren’t in new DB.
Ones near home in Ohio.

Second is here in Hollywood Fla by the city’s water tower.

Usually my phone stores gps but didn’t this time. (?) Daze had camera but R3 silent.
New DB installed, red light & speed on.
Dinner time, I’ll look up water tower after I eat.

My point is, whoever Uniden is paying for data isn’t doing a good job updating data.
I can get exact data on the camera in Ohio when I’m home.

The pictures I pulled from rdf’s post have lost their metadata and my new phone must have some setting turned off because it’s not storing location data. The metadata isn’t on it for the fla screen shot.

Escargot is spot on but I don’t have my android with me.

I really could have done with some coordinates, that was a bit of research for me.

Okay I think the first one is around:

41.35822,-81.57991.
What is the speed limit at this location?

Second one looks to be at 26.03345,-80.16371. I propose to add a mono-directional red light alert heading West. Is that enough to cover the camera(s)?

Please could someone confirm the above, and then I can add them into the database.

Awesome - can you update the sound file?
Err, no, If you have an issue with the sound capability I would suggest you contact @UnidenSupport

Okay, google confirmed the speed limit is 35 mph at that first location. The second location I'm not quite sure I understand exactly which junction, but I've build the redlight camera as shown on google streetview.

If there is any problem or its now quite right, its easy enough to rebuild the file.

So here is the new file, with the two new cameras added in:

So it looks as though many cameras are missing in Florida then!

Well yes, I can build a lot more than an entire city, I can do an entire country in a single build.

However, generally for large updates I delegate the work out to those who want them updating, or write a conversion program from some other GPS data set.
If someone has got the time or data available then we could rebuild an entire city, or rebuild the entire USA and Canada!

I have attached some instructions.

There also a few additional updates now made for the USA/Canada file building: The data no longer needs to be ordered as my US builder merges the data into the file at the correct point automatically.

In light of Uniden's latest firmware update for the R3, the ADRL and ADSP data type should now be avoided for maximum compatability.

Therefore I will now rebuild the file with the following additional points:

//mph 26.03236,-80.20847,MDRL,S
//mph 26.03192,-80.20826,MDRL,N
//mph 26.03221,-80.20805,MDRL,W

This is great! Please remove the Speed Camera at Pima and Hualapai Rd 33.661817, -111.890612. There hasn't been a fixed camera at that location for maybe 6 months or longer. They removed it and put in Speed Signs and the occasional Mobile Van.

Thank you

@WRANKIN I have completed your requested update.

There were in fact four separate alerts at this location, two for redlight, and two for speed. I have left the two redlight alerts unchanged, but the speed alerts have been replaced with your single all directional speed alert. This could be improved further as google earth street view suggests only some directions have cameras. Anyway, please test, and we can make further improvements if needed.
I finally had a chance to download and install your v1.04 GPS update and check out the location of the speed limit correction I mentioned in post #7. It worked perfectly. Thanks for doing this!
