I fail to see the benefit of night vision? I have it on my car. Can someone explain?

Pretty much for two things; wildlife and sneaky LEOs.

Receiving mine next week.

Not sure what unit you have but unless its on a scope like the gentlemen who broke cannon ball record it is going to be hard to see that far a head.

How do you know how far ahead it reaches? By the way, the record that was set by Ed, was done without thermal.

Was broken the other day, they used a night vision rifle scope.
The Cadillac camera probably can see out 800 to 1500ft depending on the target. The feidl of view will be much wider than a rifle scope, which will only be useful on very straight and level roads.

Alex Roy had one installed too which he only had incase there was a need to turn off the headlights and taillights. I have factory night vision on my M5 and it wouldn't do much for LEOs. Hence why I asked what brand/unit he was purchasing

Do you spot leos with it?
I do not have it installed yet but yes that is the purpose of me getting it and for wildlife when on back roads.

Two weeks ago I was on the turnpike and some sections have almost zero lighting. There was a trooper on the shoulder to the right with his lights off that could have easily been seen with a thermal camera. It was a close call for sure...

Since you guys are new, I'll forgive you for not knowing my previous setup. ;)

I know thermal fairly well and was the first one on RD.net and RDF to get it installed. I used a L3 300D from 2008-2014.

I miss them too my friend. Life threw a curve ball at me in 2014 and then kicked me in the nuts. I wish I had the funds to run like I used to, but that's not going to happen for a while unfortunately.
