I can't seem to find the old thread on this.

Long story short I do NOT want to use wireless charging. My phone is quite literally about to burst into flames when Waze is going while wireless charging is going. Without going into details, all I will say is that I have gone back to traditional USB type C based charging of my Android device and I love it. (battery life is better too).

What I am trying to find is a phone mount with a built in USB type C connector at the bottom, such that I plop my phone on there, and it starts charging - removing the need for me to manually plug in the cable every time. I swear I've seen these before, but I can't find it.

Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

E.g. fixed Usb type C plug at the bottom. No need to manually plug in anything...

^Beat me to it^

Used a couple of their non charging mounts, great if your phone doesn't have a case.

Thanks, that was fast. I had this in the past but it was categorically hopeless: Cell Phone Car Charging Mount, Sinjimoru Car Phone Holder/Phone Mount for Car with USB-C Cable Suitable for USB Type C Smartphones. Sinji Car Kit, Type C Basic Package.: Amazon.ca: Cell Phones & Accessories

Seems like Proclip only has one that is what I am looking for: Galaxy S9 Charging Holder with Cigarette Lighter Adapter

Does anyone know if the proclip one mandates the use of their cable?

Edit, frig it does!!!! Gak.

OK, I did read the part where you said you wanted a C type USB plug included. Nonetheless, I would like to share with you what I use for my Android in my car while running Waze & V1 app. It doesn't have a plug on the bottom. I use a Ram Mount twist lock suction cup mount and I run a C type USB cord from its power source to my phone. It works great.

Are you using Android Auto in your new ride? On my MB, I have to plug my S10 in on a specific USB port for AA to work. But, Waze on the screen is really nice and phone does not get hot.

Yes, I am, but long story short, AA runs on my car, but I have my phone displaying emails (don't judge...please...). I use Tasker to do a variety of things, such as joining my mobile hotspot, launching AA in the background, turning off DND, setting the display to never time out, and launching my email app....

So AA runs on my car, and my phone acts as an email conduit and Spotify playlist changer since Waze's Spotify integration is terrible...

Yes I run something similar right now, but just from iOttie. Great mount, just no plug integration!

Yeah, I'd rethink the need to read and answer emails while you are driving. Your life and all of those people's lives around you can't be less important than waiting to answer an email until it's safe to do so. Unless the autopilot on the new Audi is really awesome.

I don't reply when driving. Like text messages that pop up when I get them in the entertainment screen I read emails as they come in.

I would like to suggest for you what I use for my Galaxy S9. I am very happy with the results. Please check Pitaka case for S9,
MagCase for Samsung Galaxy S9.
Case is made from special Aramid fibers, it is very strong, lightweight, has built-in metal plates and allows wireless charging with magnetic desk and car phone holders. Pitaka car mounts are available in different mount versions (windshiled, dashboard, vent opening) with or without built-in wireless charging option. The Pitaka items are also available on Amazon and eBay. I have purchased my S9 case online from Luxmart for much lower price. You need to make sure that your selected mount is suitable for S9 model since mounts are not interchangeable.

Love my ram mount x grip. Has held up great over the years, but does get some shake to it when in hot climates. Not terrible and phone screen is still able to be viewed easily.

I use a vent magnet mount and 12V USB charger so I can fast charge on USB-C... Its really not THAT bad having to plug in is it!? Might take as long as reading the subject line of one of your emails...

After making the switch to magnetic mount Qi charging in the car, I don’t ever want to go back. In fact, I’m looking at new head units right now to replace the old factory radio in the truck, and I’m looking exclusively at units with wireless CarPlay specifically for that reason. Not sure if AA is available wirelessly, but I have no regrets with Qi charging.

I use the Scosche magnetic mount in both my cars. Holds on to my phone nicely while still being super easy to attach or remove, and it's low profile so I don't have this massive mount coming out of my dash.

In case you see the light about Qi charging, Scosche is having a sale on all their magic mount wireless options, all $50 vs $60 or $70.

Or more generally promo code MEMORIAL25 works for 25% off the whole site.

I've been using ProClip products for years. I stated out using the bases with dedicated device mounts, both with and without charging cables. I have a drawer chock full of them at the house to show my history with the company, dating all the way back to my first mounts. The first device I mounted using a Proclip was a Motorola v265 in 2005, the second was a HTC TyTN II in 2007 to give you an idea how far back and how many mounts are in that dawer! lol

The day ProClip emailed to announce that they were selling the iOmount stuff, I dropped the dedicated holders and never looked back. I slap the iOMount disk on the back of any device I want to hang and away I go. Plus the iOmount domes screw onto a standard camera stud so you can order from ProClip to get a base and a iOmount then start Frankensteining mounts.

This is the mount in my truck, today:

119691

Usually there is an additional mount for a second device, but I have it stowed at present so no photo. Also usually there is another piece between the ProClip base and the iOmount's AMPS plate, called a "move clip". You barely see it when it is installed, but it allows me to slide the iOmount off and use it somewhere else, or slid a different mount in it's place, without messing with screws. I only have one car right now and I'm not using any of the devices that need dedicated mounts so I stowed those, too.

Of course once it got that convenient, it started me down a slippery slope. Now I'm like "where else do I want to slap these devices? So, at my desk I have two... on the left, a Manfrotto tripod that the iOmount threaded on to natively, on the right an Arkon base w/iOmount (this is a stock ProClip SKU actually, a small amount of their stuff is just Arkon stuff), but I removed the ProClip and iOmount AMPs plates and put an Arkon ball mount camera stud in it's place so I could screw the iOmount dome directly to that instead of the ProClip plate:

119686

And here is the mount I use when I am in a rental car, it's an Arkon base that I again added an Arkon ball mount camera stud to and then again screwed an iOmount dome directly to it:

119687

I have Proclip mounts on my Boat too, but that's not next to me right now so I can't grab those, had RAM mounts before than and just switched over.

It's easy to pull the devices off, but they hold super tight. They work through cases, and I used to go offroading in my Jeep and devices would stay attached (conveniently they auto-rotate to stay level as the Jeep leans, but that's a happy accident more than a feature).

Just throwing it out there, as someone who found Proclip exactly like the OP did here - by going looking for a dedicated device holder with an integrated charging cable. I found that while sliding the device into a home that automatically started charging was cool, for me the ability to change devices without changing mounts plus being able to change cords and chargers at will can be a benefit. If that info saves anyone time and money they're welcome to it, if not then I guess I'm just sharing my mounts which is fun on it's own. :)

If nothing else, one take away: go with stuff that adheres to standards (like AMPS, using standard size threads, standard size balls) and you'll never be short of ways to attach whatever you want to wherever you want whether it's a cradle with a cable or otherwise.
