If I were you, I'd wait it out until your current lease is up. Condo/apartment building is gang busters in Nashville and surrounding areas right now (as you know), most likely in an overbuilt situation. Waiting is to your advantage, I think the sweetening of the pot so to speak, is only going to get better the longer you wait.

But whatever you do, don't freaking move downtown...holy **** what a disaster down there. Stupid bachelorette parties...

I'd wait your lease out. I too choose to rent and can't wait to move again in December. But properties to background checks and you want your leasing history to be spotless to get into premium locations. I actually got filtered out of a sweet loft space 15 years ago because I had a broken lease on my record.

I’d definitely get out of a first floor apt if you can. Personally I’d never want to live below anyone again.

Just take all the construction noise into consideration if you were thinking about the place offering a month free. If you can deal with the noise that may be the best way as far as offsetting the money you have to pay for breaking your current lease.

You’d be out the 950 over the next 8 months. That’s @$30 a week. So skip 3 fast food meals a week in exchange for being comfortable in where you live.

Oh absolutely not.

I'm looking for suggestions on how to do it, while on a very fixed budget for the next 4-5 months.

I'd even go as far as sleeping in my parents garage for 1 month to accumulate a months worth of rent if it came down to it, hahaha...

That was the FIRST thing I checked!

Both places have AT&T Fiber, which is what I have here, and is absolutely incredible.

I must have missed the part about a tight fixed budget for the next 4 to 5 months while reading over it. Thought it was just a function of logistics and weighing the pros and cons.

Speaking of garages and basements, I found a 3 bedroom ranch with a full basement. The older couple was looking for a responsible tenant to rent out the basement apartment. The price was right and utilities were included. I had a huge living room, a bath, and to large bedrooms. Older people don't make much noise as long as they can still hear the TV at normal volumes!

speaking of ATT fiber! I have finally fixed my Uverse stupid ass connection issue that was inflicting my remote STB boxes (not the ones that are wired directly to the Ethernet). So ATT has something called VSP 222 or some **** like that...it's basically a 5Ghz transmitter that sends encrypted video stream to their STB boxes....the problem is: The transmitter randomly hops channels throughout the stream and you can't select which channel it operates on (I guess they had to do that in order to prevent decryption based on MPAA or I don't know!). Anyhow, my home has 4 repeaters all built into the ceiling, so you have a very strong 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz signal everywhere in the house.
Now the problem I was having with the ATT STB box was that every 5 min or so the picture and sound would freeze for 20 seconds and then resume....the time was random but it was anywhere from 4 to 10 min. That was annoying as hell. I went through replacing the boxes, replacing the transmitter, moving the transmitter all over the damn house and nothing helped.
So I finally said; "well let's see what happens when I disable the 5Ghz band that I have on my home network?"...and bam...the problem magically goes away; we can finally watch TV w/o an issue. Thus, I think to myself:...." Self, I guess it's the 5Ghz interference!?"...so I change my home network to the lowest 5Ghz channel (TV goes to ****), I set the Channel to mid of the band (TV goes to ****), I set the channel to the end of the band (TV goes to ****). In the end, in order to watch the TV on the remote STB's I am forced to disable the 5Ghz band on my home network. Sigh.

however, the fiber aspect is indeed incredible!
I feel so bad for people that have to use standard U-Verse, it's so ****, it's so expensive, and it sucks balls, and it's crappy.

Most likely this is going to be the case unless I can find someone looking to do a lease transfer - that would be incredibly convenient/cost effective. I'd actually make money off of this if this happened.

And yeah, F city moving. I could NEVER live in a city. I had to deal with going to the DC VAMC when I lived in VA, holy crap city driving blows.

We have train tracks right outside my current apartment, it's terrible. But for that reason, the only noise that bothers me now is INTERIOR noise from other people in other apartments.

The Iron Horse place, I'd like to get an apartment right on the road and setup a camera with a zoom lens on it and do ALPR 24x7 for the RDFGSv2 database.

1. Same with my VA and MA apartments. I'd be happy with a studio though, perfectly happy with a studio.

Just kinda crazy... And I know it's about where you live but my apartment is reno'ed and I pay $650. Everything included. Washing machine, dryer, dishwasher, microwave... The only thing I hate is electric for the stove. I'm also right off the interstate and in a commercial district so everything is at my finger tips. Wood floors and awesome A/C and heat... Tbh I dunno how I got the deal I'm in now as most in the same complex are double. Guess I just got lucky.

Do whatever makes you feel good though. I say you can never put a price on happiness... As long as it doesn't put you in debt.

Gig fiber where I live too... For like $80.

Totally, I'm so pissed at how expensive stuff is here.

About 30 minutes south I can get apartments for around $800-900. I'm seriously considering doing that but it will depend on the fiber availability there, rofl. What, Internet is so important to someone like me who does all this stuff online, lol.

I wish Google Fiber was in this area, or more down south.

Yeah if we didn't have metronet (fiber) here I'd be a little annoyed. That and a failover to Comcast is nice to have.

AT&T still hasn't gotten off its ass and run fiber to my house. In Silicon Valley. Best available here is cable internet from Comcast which sucks.

Hey $20 (30 off promo) for my 25 Meg (30 Meg provisioned) line isn't bad as a backup. That and I can get Xfinity mobile unlimited for cheap. Reliability wise it hasn't been too bad. I've had to reboot the modem a few times.

My metronet line (1 gigabit down / 250 Meg up) is very good so far. I haven't had one problem except for when power went out it took them awhile to get everything working again.. but that's forgiveable.

Are you kidding? I thought the minimum you could get in SV was fiber lol...

Very few houses here can even get fiber. Even the city of Los Gatos, which is a very small area where Verizon is the ILEC instead of AT&T, does not even have FiOS. It's absolutely pathetic.

Say what? How is that Fiber? All my Fiber connections are symmetrical, not one single Fiber Service I have is Asymmetrical. ATT Fiber 1000 (960 down/960 up, note we lose 40MB to overhead), ATT Fiber 100 (100 down/100 up, they eat the overhead since they have more bandwidth above the 100 so you get a true 100), Hargray Fiber 100 (100 down/100 up), ETC Fiber 300 (300 down/300 up).

Sublet it to someone then it's off your hands.

I signed a lease years ago, in a similar situation, non-renovated place and too high of rent because I needed a place to stay ASAP and there wasn't anything else avail. Listed it on "apartment rentals" on local buy/sells, explained the terms and remaining time left on lease and offered the damage deposit plus first months rent for someone to take it off my hands.

They of course have to be approved by your complex first, but once that happens they take over the terms of the lease and you're out.

LOL I thought $1450 was cheap. I think a 1 bedroom apartment around here is like $2500-3000 a month.

You could move north, Clarksville has fiber and apartments are much cheaper there.
