This Saturday I plan on meeting up with @meismyname to do some custom installed RD testing. For this one, I wanna get all the top remotes, and then some, and test them all on 33.8, 34.7, and 35.5. K band could work too if time allows, but I doubt it.

Here's the full lineup I anticipate:
  • Escort Max Ci 360
  • Radenso RC M
  • Net Radar DSP
  • Stinger VIP
  • K40 RL360di
  • Whistler Pro-3700
  • Adaptiv TPX Pro
The first 4 are all the usual suspects. :)

The K40 I still need to acquire. It's a bit of a PITA to get ahold of one, but I should have one by this week. Fingers crossed.

The Whistler I just ordered off of Amazon. Thanks to @Bossdad71 for offering to loan me his 3600! For testing I figured it's probably best to test with the latest and greatest version, even if it should perform the same. Might as well. :)

The Adaptiv TPX is the surprise entrant. (The Pro and the 3.0 are the exact same thing.) I don't generally cover motorcycle RD's since I don't ride myself, but I keep getting asked about this unit and they reached out to me recently again to test their new RD and LJ so I figured that since I'm doing some testing anyways, it wouldn't be too big a deal to toss this one into the mix and see how the performance compares. For the sake of keeping things apples to apples, I gotta find a way to mount it in my grill and still get some sort of audible/visual indication in the cabin. Hopefully it supports this option and I don't have to run it as a windshield mount.

Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing how all these remotes compare in head-to-head testing. Once the new RD's start showing up this week (K40, Whistler, & Adaptiv), I could do some quick unboxing videos since they're new to me anyways and then I can start getting familiar with the wiring, interface, and mounting for testing. Speaking of mounting, hopefully my grill works well enough to zip tie in different heads for testing, haha.

Laser jammer testing will be the following weekend. :)

Yeah I think so. It's mostly a matter of starting early enough so we have enough time to get through everything. That and figuring out how to mount the temporary remotes. Speaking of which, I should go out and try that...

@Vortex it comes with a visual light like this one TPX Detector & Accessories – Adaptiv Technologies far right hand side. i'm sure youre aware of that, but just a reminder. you could out it on your dash maybe, you would have to call it out, but your integrity is established enough people would trust you. anyway, that's one though

from my experience it's so sensative on KA band, the false alerts to cobras are well, you will see maybe. I can get 1.5 to 2 mile all day long but the k band false alerts and the inability to switch from k band to ka when a real threat comes is problematic imo.

anyway, ill shut up and let you see for yourself, look forward to your results.

Do you know how long that cable is? I'm guessing it's fairly short since it's intended for motorcycle use, not for reaching from the grill to the cabin. I'd also like the LED to visually see when the alert goes off on camera which is often easier than relying on the audio. I guess I could always tape it to my hood or something if needed, haha.

They are working on new filtering capabilities for the unit. They're sending me a prototype unit with better filtering, but I asked for a retail unit for the remote testing to ensure that there's nothing unexpected going on with beta software. Hopefully the new filtering helps keep it quieter either way

If you still can't get a K40 I have a friend that will let me pull his. I just need time to do it since hes 6 hours away from me.

Do you know how quick you'd be able to do that? That's a big deal to get a system pulled and mailed over so I don't want to ask you to have to do that unless you're super willing or anything. :)

Being realistic with work and home it would be a week or more. I wouldn't be able to have it pulled in time for your testing, sucks, but if your option falls through testing could still be done just later than sooner.

I'm running Mr Mom duty and part time work right now so planning with mom and her schedule will be the biggest challenge.

Sorry, Off Topic:
What's with that wire hanging off your rear view mirror in all your latest videos ? Kind of derails from all those super star custom installs ? ;) :p :laugh::laugh:

Good luck with the testing.

Finally some data on K40... be good to see how they compare... we always seem to direct folks away from them because historically they haven't been great (and i don't expect that much from them now) but it would be nice to have some current data to reference. also like to see how they do with Laser, haven't seen recent independent data there either... I'm not expecting a ton but it would be nice to have the specifics so we at least know for sure.

@Vortex the light cable is 4 feet long and the harness is 6 feet long, just in case you didnt get that already
Awesome, thank you. I'll bring some extra tape to attach it to the hood of my car for testing, lol :D

Man, this K40 has been a PITA to acquire. I contacted several Car Toys in the area and got denied when I went up for approval from corporate. They don't like doing returns. I reached out to K40 but, as expected, silence. I'm on the phone now ordering one from a company online and having it overnighted so it'll be here in time for testing.

One K40 RL360di with 3 defusers coming right up! When I asked for 3 defusers instead of 2, the guy laughed and asked if I was going for 3 up front for the DragonEye. Indeed I am. :)

just had a thought, i'm sure you already asked him, but since you arent using it on a motorcycle Wayne might not send the the extra light without being asked.

So he emailed me earlier today saying that he sent out an 8 foot light cable, 8 foot wiring harness, and the auto kit to power it from inside my car. I guess he sent me extended versions of the cables? Either way, they should definitely be very helpful for testing.

They've got a set of laser jammers they'll be releasing too that's also designed specifically for a motorcycle. They're saying you should be set with two heads to jam the DragonEye so I'll install those as a set of duals. I'm curious to see how they do and what the advantages are with their jammers for motorcycle riders.

sounds like it. I'm looking forward to seeing how the parking sensors work too. Should be a good time. Love to see their rating come up. Over all imo it's a great design for a motorcycle if they get the bsm figured out.

Pro-3700 has arrived today.

K40 RL360di and Adaptiv TPX are en route as well.

I'm editing a dashcam comparison video at the moment and to take a break, I did a quick unboxing video with the Pro-3700, livestreaming on YouTube. Livestreams are great because you guys can participate and it also means zero time spent editing afterwards for me, but it's not too great when you're busy opening bags, plugging in cables, and reading the manual to try and figure out how to get into the menu options for a brand new radar detector, haha.

Either way, here's the video replay if you wanna check it out.
