I have always made the biggest effort to be a polite driver, regardless of how fast that I'm driving. I don't tail gate, don't cut other drivers off, make sure that I give the other drivers plenty of room when I go around them and then back into the right lane and yet I have encountered so many angry drivers. After passing cars when I'm going slightly over the limit [people usually drive 10-20 miles UNDER the limit where I live], and meeting them again at a stop light, I have had people walk up to me with a baseball bat, yell at me, throw things at me, honk at me,... I have noticed that this happens more in my community than in any other place that I've lived. Just last week, I had someone block my car in a parking spot because I didn't stop to let him out of a parking spot. Hey, I was driving down a parking isle at a grand total of 12 MPH, it was his responsibility to yield for other cars. I had broken my toe and my wife went into the hardware shop so I stayed in the car and a car parked inches from my bumper and wouldn't let me out. My wife has had the same thing happen to her although she does drive more aggressively than I do in town. Ok, she scares me but that is another story.

On the highway, I have made out fingers being shot in the ever shrinking rear view mirror at me after passing cars on the correct side, cars trying to block me in, semi trucks hanging inches from my rear bumper after passing them and getting blocked in by even slower vehicles. I've heard of other stories from truckers running cars off the road when catching speeders or calling ahead to block speeders. Ed Bolian on VINwiki told a story about being punched for driving too fast.

I noticed this again this past weekend in West Memphis while traveling and having cars trying to block me and get even to a violent mode in when trying to pass them.

Realizing that this community is a rare one where other people might lets say be tempted to drive in excess of the speed limit. Have you had this happen to you just because you were driving faster than the were? I can't for the life of me figure out how driving faster makes some people so upset.

I have not had that kind of behavior directed st me just for speeding. Usually it was when it was coupled with an aggressive lane change or something on my part.

I have had left lane hogs follow me or flip me off when I passed them on the right. I hate to do that, but had it pointed out to me by an LEO that it is legal in my state when there are multiple lanes going one direction. I still try not to, but will after several minutes of “getting stuck” behind a LLH that is intentionally trying to make everyone else drive slow.

every once and a while, however around me lots of folks go +20 on the highway and +15 around town so generally as long as you aren being a dick to them on the road and passing carefully and respectfully they dont bother, but some areas area worse than others. I would suggest a dash camera (front and rear) since folks up your area seem to be a bit agressive on the road... that way if anyone ever does come after you at any point you have good footage of the events so the police can take care of the other party thats being agressive toward you. personally I this is why I am armed when I go places... but FL is pretty cool about that... not all states are.

I don't recall anyone going out of their way to make a stand against me driving faster, but my friend was coming back from snowboarding in Vermont and he passed three cars in the overtaking lane and one guy called him in. My friend has winter tires on so the car was planted. A trooper up ahead stopped my friend and gave him an obstructed played ticket because the guy who called him probably knew someone at the troop station. What bs

Yah, that is crap. I have an Audi with Quattro and high speed winter tires on. I have not had people get mad at me, but I have has to pass multiple people at once because the others are too timid. Of course I dont usually wait around to see if anyone takes offense

If you’re in the wrong lane then I’m going to ride you like a circus pony and there’s actually a lot of people around here who will notice that and get out of the way. But other than that I put foreward a lot of effort into behaving like a polite and considerate driver. With the exception of my zero mustang tolerance policy.

You can’t do anything about other people. There will always be the idiots or those who will do nothing but try to piss you off because they enjoy it. People don’t care and are far too often inconsiderate and selfish.

I try to play nice until people give me a reason not to be. It cuts out a lot of other people behaving erratically and helps me sleep better at night. Using this guideline I’ve only ever been called in for my “efficient” driving once where it was kind of an emergency where I was doing psl+psl...

I have had a few people flash at me for passing them "too fast" once I got ahead of them recently .

On my travels today, I had one idiot who was doing 10KMH under PSL and took almost a minute to overtake another car gesture at me with his hand out as if to ask me what was I doing as I was going past him and I had another do the exact same thing a few weeks back as well  .

Earlier back in the year, in January, I had another a$$hole pretend to be on the phone after I passed him but got stuck at the next traffic lights or traffic etc. I actually have the rear camera footage of that little cuck and his "I'm going to tell the teacher on you" smarmy little b!tch face on him as he was supposedly calling me in so I might get around to editing the clips at a later stage and show them on here lol. I never did hear any more about it since then so he must have been trying to BS me. Sad little fcker :rolleyes::rolleyes:.

If anyone should be mad, it's me at times. So many "so called" drivers who are happy to tail a truck or another car (or bunch of cars) for ages on a motorway decide to wait right up until I'm about to overtake them and then they pull out in front of me to do so, forcing me to brake suddenly to avoid a crash and its either cos they're not using their mirrors or they must think I'm going to impede their progress somehow if they wait the few more seconds I'll need to pass them FFS :argh:.

I would really love to know why they do this and I can predict it with amazing accuracy also. If I ever end up having a conversation with one of these clowns (possibly after a crash but hopefully not lol) and they blame me for going too fast cos they did nothing wrong, I'm going to be like, "So you checked your mirrors and knew I was going "too fast" but you still decided to cut me off like that so? Really good idea dumba$$!!":rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

some people just have issues... I have passed 12 cars in a single go on a straight back country road cause nobody had the balls to go around the first car in line... after I did it they all followed suit and no one was even a little agitated... Then there are other days like this one, where you have haven't done anything and the other person is just being a dick for no reason:

Yes. Somewhat. I've had Iranian guys in Mercedes and young punks in Nissans want to race me because they didn't like being passed by a motorcycle.
Well that doesn’t mean they’re mad. That just sounds like fun!

I don't think I've ever encountered anybody angry at me (that I know of at least) for just speeding. I drive relatively fast, but never do anything flagrantly over the speed limit with other cars around. I'm pretty sure Ed Bolian was going like 100 in a 35 in front of houses when he got punched.

I'm sure it has to do with region as well. I've driven all over the country and people in small towns and rural areas care more about stuff like that whereas in big cities it's like a giant BMW hole contest to see who can drive 30 over with a 0.1 car following distance weaving between traffic to get 3 cars ahead before the traffic jam.

On the way home from work one night, going 80 mph on the highway in the fast lane. PSL 65 mph. Come up on another car doing no faster than 45-50 mph, also in the fast lane. This drives me crazy. Yes, I could have easily went around him as there was no one in the slow lane at that point, but if you see me coming, please be kind and move over... Nope! I stayed a few car lengths back to see if he’d move over. Nope! Flashed my lights. He SLAMS on the brakes forcing me to go in the slow lane to avoid hitting him. I get back in the fast lane, he moves over into the slow lane, gets right next to me and throws something at my car. Being on the highway, it sounded way worse than it was, but it was LOUD. I let him get ahead and he happens to take the exit I always take to go home. He pulls over on the exit ramp, and I stop right next to him, put my window down to as ask him what’s up his a** and he couldn’t get out of the car fast enough, moves quickly to his trunk saying, “Yeah you want to f****** try something b****!?” It was dark and I had no idea what he had in the trunk, and didn’t want to find out, so I just hit the gas and took off. Probably shouldn’t have stopped next to him in the first place, but I was heated because of whatever he threw at my car. You can throw something at me, but not my car! Once I took off, I kept an eye on my RVM and saw him get back in his car, take right off, and then pull into a gas station. I pulled into the next parking lot with plenty of lights to check on my car. What he threw, just looked to be a vanilla milkshake. I got home, hosed down the car and that’s that, but d*mn, all I thought about all night was, what a waste of a delicious vanilla milkshake!

if traffics clear im usually +30 PSL, weaving LLH's if necessary, and people usually have a couple seconds of fight in them but quickly realize how fast im going and maintaining and they quickly give up. But man ole man i got some good stories commuting 80 miles a day mostly city driving, most notable was a new ram LLH'ing HARD, after a few miles i finally got an opening and passed him (love having a small focus).

The next statement im not proud of, but after a while i caught traffic and guess who eagerly got up on my right? Mr ram, shortly followed by a loud ass THUD (like mattguy said, things appear much louder, as it turned out i was assaulted by a breakfast biscuit) so i'm instantly blind rage mode and he thinks he's slick by trying to jump 3 lanes over to an exit but i was right there with him, as hes exiting, a wrench may or may not have been allegedly launched at his truck hard enough to ricochet about 10 ft off his truck followed by many insults and greetings from a car similar to mine. I've since ran across him a few more times and he just moves over now, I did drive by his house that day after work since i saw where he pulled out from, i really considered leaving a new breakfast biscuit along with a note saying to not throw this one but decided against it out of laziness.

I really need a dashcam as theres a ton of shenanigans on the daily involving slow pokes offended by being passed.

Oh yes, perfect example last week!

Guy in a Golf R decided he wanted to race me, I obliged engaged launch control, naturally having a stage 1 RS3 I Roflstomped him, at the next set of lights he hung his right arm out the window and made a wanking gesture at me.

Most people open their windows and go nice car or give me a thumbs up etc.

People get Butt Hurt easy these days. My favorite is when they Honk at you as you blow by them.
It's like the only thing their primitive brain can come up with as a response. Well get the F out of the way and try doing the speed limit once in a while.

Once in a while I'll encounter some white suburban soccer mom who thinks it's her moral and legal crusade to use her SUV to box me out or slow me down. As a male driver, the women, particularly moms with children in the car are the worst example of this reckless behavior. However those types are usually such bad drivers I can qucikly change lanes and easily avoid them on a three or four lane highway.

Ditto! I just go ahead and get the hell away from them! Almost everytime I pass somebody, even if they have their cruise set dead on 55 and I pass them nice and easy, and use my turn signal, they will still kick their cruise off and ride my @ss for a couple of miles! Now I just go ahead and blast by them! They can't tailgate what's not there anymore!

I had one douche canoe a couple of months ago doing 20-30 under on a 2 lane road with no shoulder. I was doing 40-50 (PSL was 45) and caught up to him and as I was doing so, he put on his 4 way flashers and pulled over a little bit. Ok, great, or so I thought. As I was passing him, he was honking at me. :wtf:
