The problem could technically be resolve if you can get thicker wiring between. Not sure what they are running now in your setup, but moving say 26AWG to 24AWG or even CAT6 with 23AWG and terminated 2 pairs, leaves ya with another set pair for something else. Food for thought.
I understand. I just don't want to go through the effort to do that right now. If I need to take my car apart again in the future, I can do it then.

I completely understand that... I do the same as it can turn into a half day or more job. I have temporay wiring setup for my NRDSP and TMGs currently running outside the car for Testing.

BOB solved my Wife's VW Atlas Start/Stop issue with her V1 - well worth it. Always try and turn off stop/start but it doesn't remember so I have to remember to turn if off...LOL. BOB works GREAT!!

So I've spent the day looking at various power sources. It does look like the issue is the cable running from the rear up to my headliner. I see about an extra 1.5v drop with a WS mounted RD compared to the Max Ci 360 whose CPU is also plugged into the same location. My MirrorTap is about an extra 0.3v above even that.

I did hear back from VR about the BOB and they said that its output voltage is not designed to be user adjustable which makes sense.

I think what I'm gonna wind up doing is just sticking with the power cable as is. It works fine for detectors like the R7 and V1. For detectors like the Max360c which throws low voltage errors and shuts off, I can just grab the MirrorTap right next to it (I forgot that was there, haha) and use it instead. Not a big deal to use the other cable for now.
Does running at reduced voltage impact performance?

It's not just the voltage, you have to consider the lack of current.
If you are starving the detector it's not going to work right.
IMHO

Was my thought too. VR seems to think it is pretty important.

Has there been any independent testing on this?

Can anyone do a quick drawing how it would hook up to a non Valentine radar unit?. It looks like the BOB has wires too. Thanks

If one is having voltage drop like posted, 11volts on a running vehicle with ample power, either bad ground point, poor wiring (smaller gauge than needed), or other electrical issues. Is the issue at the connector to the RD stating 11v +/- or at the BOB unit itself closer to the Fuse box?
This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Py SPECIAL ATTENTION to your gauge=number and thickness of strands. MANY aftermkt Manufacturers cut cost's here.
