If it starts to go out of tune you will need to send it in for calibration. Also keep in mind that you need an FCC license to transmit Ka (extremely difficult to get) but you should be fine for the most part. I've been using my Stalker here and there with no issues.

Can you post a pic of the unit you have? There are three versions so I can't post a link for the manual yet.
Jake, I can't exactly ask the FCC and I can't find in the 47 CFR, maybe you can help, sorry if slightly off topic... Do you know what endorsement is needed for Ka? I have my FCC and have a radar endorsement. I am in the market for some new guns for testing in the wild.

Edit, removed my FCC license.

It's a Part 90 license if I recall correctly.

Here is the thread concerning getting a Part 90 license. It's extremely difficult...

How to get a Part 90 license from the FCC to transmit on Ka

@Allen Dockery
Thanks @V1Jake for this.... I'm just going to wait to see if I ever make it to Advanced before I get there extra 90 endorsement. I wonder if already having a FCC license and radar endorsement helps or not... But thank you for the link, it was a good read.

Any time Allen. I'm looking to see if I can get it but I have to find out how long the license is for (hopefully 10 years like a ham license) and what the re-renewal would be

While the FCC can levy severe penalties (and rightly so), in practice they have only done so to repeated and wanton offenders that have been previously warned and given every opportunity to comply. In normal use, even extensive day long testing, the probably of anyone noticing and contacting the FCC is near zero. The likelihood the FCC would care enough to follow up or pursue any enforcement is even more remote. YMMV.

i'm looking at buying a 35.5 system and changing one of the antennas to 34.7 as others and noticed that 33.4 - 36.0 GHz is on the name plate of the unit that i'm looking at... The antenna that had an early death may have been from natural causes?

Yea, Golden Eagle I bought had two identical antennas rated 33.4 to 36.0 GHz.
Edit- Actually it is the same model number as the one you shared.

IIRC, the antenna Dukes killed was an X band antenna. So it was operating way outside of it's design spec. I wouldn't think twice about tuning a Ka antenna anywhere in the normal Ka range, but I don't think it's a realistic testing scenario.

I highly recommend not tuning the frequency.Once it goes out of factory specs the microwave antenna will fry and destroy the feed very quickly. From a technician stand point once it’s broken it’s broke and it’s off to the dump pile. My guy can bring out of whack Frequency back to manufacture specs so the microwave antenna is healthy and will last longer. I have received countless Pm’s on individuals tuning antennas and wanting to know why it works for 1-2 weeks and then no longer works.I highly highly recommend just buy a normal 35.5 radar unit,Normal 34.7 unit and so on.

Not True...You are using it to test radar detector equipment...therefore it is sending out a radar frequency! No one is writing a ticket to passer bys while testing their equipment (radar detector). My ants have been adjusted (by me) for a while now and are holding the frequency that I have tuned them to perfectly for that time. There were questions on the forum is changing from 35.5 to 37.4xx would have the same distance in output. So far in all of the testing that I have done with mie compared to a local LEO's police unit the range is very very close for detection....just ask my R3/R7/ max360 and redline-0. :)
Sorry I disagree to this. Not sure why I did not see this post sooner. Best of luck with this.

Hello, I own Qty 2 Golden Eagle Is and Qty 1 Silver Eagle Radars with Ka Antennas.

The enclosed attachments show the Kustom Signals Radar Cables Listing for the Silver Eagle 1 and Golden Eagle 1 as of 02/06.

I don't know about the Radar Cables setups for theKS Eagle II or KS Eagle III because I have never had to troubleshoot these

I also own an complete and original Kustom Signals "Eagle Series Traffic Safety Maintenance Manual" (1995 - 78 Pages) P/N 006-0552-00 with electrical schematics, parts lists, etc. This manual is mainly for 2006 and earlier Silver Eagle 1 and Golden Eagle 1 Radar Systems. If needed, I could provide you the connector cables pinout assignments, but it is much cheaper, quicker, and more accurate to simply purchase a new cable. I recommend PB Electronics at www.pbelectronics.com/radar_repair.htm for reasonable cable pricing. BTW, I am not affiliated with PB Electronics in any way...

If you need you need additional info for these KS Radar Cables, email me through this forum & I'll see what I can do to help...

Any chance you could scan the entire manual to PDF?
