Has anyone else noticed any issues running alp connect on iPhone since the last app update? Iphone6 latest IOS version. Latest alp connect and DSP firmware.

First, I’ve noticed that sometimes a KA alert will randomly drop sound after initially alerting. A few times, after thinking the threat was gone, I will look at the phone and the car icon and directional arrows will still be flashing but there is no sound.

Second, I’ve also noticed that in landscape mode the unsuppress icon is grayed out so you can’t undo a lockout.

Lastly, this is an old one I posted awhile back way when I first got the DSP, maybe by now I’m not the only one with this problem. The Duck feature has never worked for me. Sometimes it brings the music back to its previous level but most times it brings it back at a lower volume.

I scoured the forum the other day and found nothing on this. I have an Iphone X, 7 Plus and an Ipod. All do the same thing. The X and the Ipod are better, but still no cigar. I changed the various settings, disconnected my external speakers on the phone, nothing helped. Did a factory reset and redid my profiles etc.
I spoke to@ThreePedals6.2he uses an android phone and has no issues. I downloaded the ALP connect app to my android tablet last night and haven't had a chance to experiment.
Seems to have no set pattern. I ordered a blue tooth module to experiment.
I hooked up the hifi control set and speaker. It works fine. No issues. You still get the situation awareness with the different color led, however you lose marked locations ability for false alerts.
I'm stumped....
@BestRadarDetectors do you have any thoughts??

**Update** I took a spin with the android tablet and the blue tooth worked fine. No muting etc on it's own.
@BestRadarDetectors do you have any suggestions??

It's already setup on the small tablet. Just have to change the mounting. Tired of fiddling... I see there's other features as well, so it's a bonus!!

Update for the first two issues. The app muting the alert doesn’t just occur on KA, I’ve noticed it on K band also. Also the sound icon isn’t showing that it’s muted (no red slash) the alert just stops producing sound. As for the unsuppress button being greyed out I finally noticed that it doesn’t just happen in landscape mode.

So far I don’t see any pattern for either issue though. Sometimes everything works as it should and sometimes not. The first one is my biggest concern though.

thanks

The fact that ios only gives you notifications when the app is in the background vs androids ability to pull the app to the screen should be reason enough!
I have experienced sone times when the android app is silent during an alert during testing both radar and laser! No consistency thought...

Yeah even the banner notification has always been inconsistent for me if I’m running waze in the foreground for example . Sometimes the notification bar pops up and sometimes it doesn’t. One alert might generate the notification bar and the following alert may not.

But usually I’m just running the alp app up front with iTunes in the background and the alerts start off correctly and then go silent. I hadn’t noticed the muting problem happening though before the latest firmware update and IOS app update.

It does happen on all bands. I always have the app running by itself with no other apps open. I did find if you hit the mute button a couple of times, the sound comes back and then it goes silent again. It does work fine on the android tablet.

I noticed the same thing with hitting the mute button. I also noticed I don’t always get a sound alert when switching profiles anymore. Also seems to be random.

Update: I still don’t know why alerts are sometimes muting themselves (#1 above)

But for #2, the unsuppress button being greyed out, I think it’s related to signal strength.

From the beginning the app hasn’t displayed a frequency for an alert if the signal strength is below whatever cut off you set in city mode. Once the signal strength passes that cut off it will begin displaying a frequency. I wish it always displayed the frequency.

After a little messing around today I think the same thing is going on for the unsuppress button. The unsuppress button will remain greyed out until the signal strength passes your city mode threshold and then the button becomes useable and you can unsuppress the lockout.

EXACTLY my findings as well. You are not alone.

Especially the weird music issue.

Glad you stated that as I was beginning to think it was my Head Unit AV system. Not cheap to replace.

Thx for the post !!

You are probably in mute mode. If you press the mute button when there is no alert its a hard mute and stays muted until you press it again to take you out of that mode.

Thats what i thought at first but what happens is I get an alert audibly for a couple of seconds but then the sounds goes away while the graphic continues to show an alert. Then the next alert will come thru with sound. Sometimes the sound stays for the duration but sometimes it stays only briefly.

This happens to me, as well. A couple of OhSHoot moments have occurred when realized.
Occasionally I do also get truncated-at-the-beginning alerts on K and Ka band.

Can you send us a video of this happening? Also, Just to confirm you do not have a locked out K band signal in the area?

Thanks Tom, I'll try and get a video for you guys. But yeah, it doesn't seem to be related to lockout areas.

like @hellcatguy mentioned, hitting the mute button after the alert has gone silent will sometimes bring the sound back. it just seems random (some alerts are fine) and it started after the latest IOS update. along with the lockout button issue.
