I personally don't care about the religious issues what I find deeply sad is the loss of ancient architectural processes and examples of what humanity accomplished with state of the art tools of that time period.

Renovation of the Cathedral sparked the fire

So how was work honey?!

Well you know that iconic 800 year old cathedral that brings !millions in tourist revenue each year?! Well about that. I did what Hitler refused to do.

This is very unfortunate. Luckily the building is still standing (I hope nothing worse will happen) and I'm sure the area that was destroyed will be rebuilt - this would be like a deep renovation.

Edit: seems like they finally contained it

I think we have a hunch who did it, who's celebrating and what's going to replace it.

Sad day. I remember going there in the 70s and it was an impressive monument to christianity.

I've read that Cersei Lannister was to be put on trial today at the cathedral.

Is it hard to believe that a mosque shooting wouldnt result in some type of blow back?

I would hope that they would have atleast a few cameras pointed at the church for safety purposes

During my travels I often visit restored/reconstructed monuments, buildings, art pieces, etc. and it gives an illusion that our technology and current practices and safety procedures are enough to keep them safe... but when you least expect it something like this happens. It's humbling but it also shows that these efforts probaly kept a lot of history "alive" for us to experience, which would have disappeared otherwise...
I think it was last week, I read a young lady jumped a fence at the pompei site and ripped off more than a docen pieces of a ancient mosaic, just like that...!

It's sad! You just hate to see something 8-900 years old get destroyed.

Who is this "we" you speak of?
It was a construction worker who caused it. It is going to be restored, nothing else will replace it...and it will hopefully be completed in five years...and the world will celebrate.
