I'm unboxing and installing my A119 v3 now since I'm gonna hit the road soon. Here's the A119 v2 (left) and A119 v3 (right).

View attachment 122796

The v3 doesn't have the side-to-side moving lens which I actually prefer. One of my v2's, that part broke so the lens shakes side to side a lot. This is less adjustable (still goes up and down of course), but it's one less thing to break.

I read that the v2 GPS mounts aren't compatible with the v3, but I just tried it and it does fit. However, while it fits and works for power, the GPS functionality doesn't work, so you really do need the v3 GPS mounts to have the GPS work.
I like the sexy "V3 GPS" branding on the module.

Good evening/day to everybody in each time zone.
I was looking for a dash cam to be my second best friend on the road next to my radar detector. After reading forum here, watching and comparing countless youtube videos, I decided to go for Viofo a119 v3, because, compared even to version 2, provides obviously more detail in footage and easy readable license plates. Quality that I observed in many comparisons is more then excellent and justifies value for the money. Ordered it and today - two days later - voila, it arrived to me! Let's thank Viofo and their swift productive cooperation with Amazon. My first impression... wow! It is much smaller, more compact and elegant in reality than one could be expecting only from watching youtube videos with shot at a close distance. Over YouTube presentations it looks bigger but in reality is a real small jewel, cute discrete eye-witness. Well, at least to a first-time owner like me. And I am even happier now with my choice. I haven't tested it yet because I am still waiting for my memory card delivery tomorrow. Besides I will have to have it installed soon, i'm not specialist with cars wiring.

And here we come to my question: At the product description it is pointed out that V3 supports up to 256GB memory cards, and in the user manual page 3 they wrote "up to 128GB" :hmm:I read this after I had already ordered this card and now I'm not sure which of both statements is true and if I didn't go wrong with the capacity? How much capacity have you been using with A119 V3? I still could cancel my order by tomorrow morning. I wouldn't want to otherwise if 256GB card works with V3 'cause it would provide me more lifespan... and space of course.

The 4K model will use the same GPS mount as current A129.
Is there a release date yet? I'd love to replace my A129 Duo with the 4K Model.

My wish for the VIOFO dash cams would be a GPS suction cup mount. I used the GPS mount on my recent trip to Chile, but I had to spend quite a bit of time scraping the mount off the window because it was so stuck on there. Next time, I won't be using the sticky pad that comes with it, but my own 3M double sided tape, and I'm not sure how that will affect how difficult it will be to get the thing off the window. In any case, it would be nice to have a mount that can be easily removed from rental cars as opposed to having to remove it the night before I return the car so I don't have to scramble to remove it when I have to make a flight at a specific time.

No one answered my question and I had to take the risk today. Signed the carrier's papers and accepted the 256gb card. Well... Samsung Evo Plus 256GB works like a charm with Viofo A119 V3 after internal formating. Assume that each high-quality sdxc a1 class 10 grade 3 memory card would fit just fine. I don't know who writes these user manuals, they are quite frugal anyway. YouTube usually is in help. I first upgraded the dash cam to firmware 1.2, then made factory reset and finally made second formatting, to be on the safe side with the new FW. 1044p/1600p H264 recording time with this card is about 18 hours and 22 hours by 1044p/1600 H265 encoding. There is another 4K resolution 3840/2160p with H265 which approximate recording time is about under 17 hours. I left mine 2560x1440p H265. Hope this would be useful for someone in a dilemma like me.

@johnboy00, I really don't know where we could buy something like this. And obviously this brand sell their product with the protective double sticker included in box and it is designated as "Static sticker". They make it for this custom model only. But the idea isn't bad at all and it is something at least. I suggest Viofo to think about an accessory of this sort to make their customers happy. It's simple and efficient. They are able to order for production some protector of the sort suitable for their models and everybody would buy at least one piece. At least I wish they would make some suction cup where we could stick the back side of the gps module and not the glass. I agree 100% with @STS134 in this respect. Simple ideas a lot, only willing of their part is necessary. Not everyone wants to stick and make grease at the windshield indeed, which is getting harder to remove with time. Meanwhile if anyone finds out some protector that resembles the above mentioned, please give here ideas. If I find something of the sort by chance, will post it here.

This looks promising  I see here something like this costs about $9-$10, this is even cheaper or this. At least manufacturer claims that no traces remain after removal and it should be transparent. It could be stuck on some sort of windshield universal suction cup for phone.

Hello, guys. Yesterday I had my new Viofo A119 V3 hardwired and installed in my car and ready to go. I was short of time during the installation and used the factory sticker to the GPS module, had no time to go and buy transparent stickers, never mind. Decided to share part of my first footages with whoever would be curious to see how this dash cam copes with traffic in the real world here. I had set my resolution to 2560x1440, 2K. The first footage is from yesterday in a cloudy day. It is re-encoded and manipulated by me from 2K to FullHD, because even this way I ended up with 1GB video. YouTube also reencode, so it is possible that the video could be visible in diminished than the actual quality. The second footage is from earlier today driving in a more shiny day to a meeting in an industrial zone, shot in 2K 2560x1440 H265 and reencoded to H264, because of YouTube requirements. It's just a sample but there is somewhere in the middle a caught car crash. I didn't buy a CPL filter, so there may be reflections during some frames. I haven't got a chance to test it at night so far but it's just matter of time. Also, if you have some recommendation, I'll be glad to know. Now I'm all set, so if something interesting would be going on in front of my Uniden here, I will share. ;) Please, enjoy. :)
