I was doing some reading on dash cams just now and came across this. Looks like a 4K cam coming soon from VIOFO.

Edit: A119 V3 on the way as well it looks like:

Figures. I just bought my A129 a week ago.

Yeah I get it.. just bought mine as well a little over a month ago. Actually bought the A129 first (front cam only), then returned it for the A119 for the higher resolution. Oh well, if we always wait for the next best thing, we’ll never buy anything

Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??

Thanks @mattguy10 for spotting this! I've been getting ready to buy two complete setups based on the feedback from the folks on here. Really wanted 4K, so this is fantastic news if the sensor quality is as good as the previous generation.

Also, I wanted a 90-degree connector on both ends of the rear cam cable for a tighter install based on a post from @Heywood. I found out from Viofo support that one was in fact in the works, but I couldn't figure out how they were going to distribute it though (part of the A129 set, separate accessory sku, etc). Maybe it's part of this unit.

I wouldn't mind upgrading. Are there any better specification listings for the unit? I'd really like a 1440p 60fps option and would probably run that instead of the 4K.

This looks interesting... I'm guessing it'll be cheaper than the DR900S. They're adding automatic parking recording capabilities too, but I'm assuming it'll be non-buffered. Still though, I'm glad to see more 4K options available!

I haven’t found anything else on it except for the link I posted in my OP. Googling it yields no results that I see so it must be fairly new news. I agree that 1440p @ 60fps would be a great option!

Sorry, but how can a rookie get a side-by-side comparison of this forthcoming unit with the BV 900S 4K?

I’m sure some will show up on YouTube eventually. I’d like to see this as well.

I just looked myself as well. I didn’t really see any spec difference or anything that looked different than the word 4K in the title. There really wasn’t any spec’s listed.

Even the price seemed out of line. $229 vs $169. Minimum order of 10?

There’s nothing on Viofo’s official site.

I don’t know what to make of this?

Well to be honest, I’m pretty impressed with the 1080 P. But, 4K would be the tits wouldn’t it?

This is where I spotted it. Post # 11
Looks like Viofo confirmed it in Post # 16

I read Him (Viofo) say once that its hard to get tag numbers with 4k. But I dunno, woud like to see though.

No matter here, I am running the A129 Duo in two vehicles and want for nothing. They do what I want. I rarely look at footage anymore unless there is an event.

There’s a LOT to making a well-rounded dashcam that us laymen don’t really understand. If you want one reasonably priced, and you want it to be somewhat inconspicuous instead of giant, you’re going to have to make compromises. There doesn’t yet exist any option that allows for the massive sensors and especially lenses you’d need to make 4K actually perform well. It’s a pure marketing gimmick still.
