Yeah, I’m also an Elite member at Best Buy, but I’d keep the R7 even if a new V1 came out. I have a newish V1 and R3 now, and even with the R7 coming I’m not yet planning to get rid of either.

However, since the V1 is currently out of stock, maybe now would be a good time for listing it.

Might not be a bad idea. V1’s really hold their value. I tried to buy a used one, before I decided on the r7, and couldn’t get a good deal.

If something big like a new revision of the V1 was coming out wouldnt they want to hype it up some?? with the release of the R7 it makes sense to put out an advertisement now in hopes of swaying them to get the V1 and hold off on purchasing any other detector.. ? no?

people might think "thats not the way Mike rolls" but hes in the business of selling detectors, obviously wants to sell as many as he can right?
His Word of Mouth Psychologically sells TONs of Units ala the Grateful Dead ALLOWED/PROMOTED fans to plug into their concerts and RECORD LIVE

IN RETROSPECT THEIR FANBASE GREW EXPONENTIALLY AND ALL THEIR CONCERTS WERE SOLD OUT !!!

Same concept. Trust and transparency.

Yeah, I see them listed on eBay quite often and have been surprised with the prices. They’re built like tanks though, so I’d have no doubt it would last a loooong time.

Although I like the range of my R3 better, I wish it felt more substantial, like the V1, when holding it. It doesn’t sound like the R7 will be much different as it still weighs less than the V1 despite it being physically larger.

My first detector was Passport MAX. I switched to V1 back in 2017ish and never looked back. With JBV1 and the amount of info you r getting is just a no brainer.
We only see in Edmonton 34.7 and outside of it 35.5 and 24.150.
I d rather sacrifice a bit of range than info I can get from JBV1 app. Sensitivity on K-band with filtering is among highest out there so I am not worried at all when traveling outside city limits.
Also most of encounters withing YEG limits is laser.

We should take a poll on how many cops are synchronizing their speed trap to the nearby motion sensor radar frequencies.
Glad to hear you don't encounter it! How many think Lidar is not in use just because the cops leave their radar on? How many think the same cop just wasnt using Radar when they passed him a few days later? How many had LJ's and knew what he was up to immediately?

Hiding behind radar signs, I've seen my fair share.
I've see it in my neighborhood. Had a speed trailer up for a week, then one day there was a copy spewing K band behind it! Next week trailer was gone, but cop would still park behind other cars waiting for his prey....

I had to do a double take as the two frequencies were very close...

But Still no GPS built in. Wonder why? Keep cost down maybe?
Sounds perfect to me! All I want is more range and a new display that will show the frequency and I'm all in! I still don't give a damn about GPS! Just one more thing, did hell just freeze over?

I have a R3 also, and the build quality is about the same. It’s also very thick. Makes it hard to put up between my rear view mirror and the headliner. Not a huge big deal, but wish it were a little thinner. The screen is nice and big, so I guess you can’t have it both ways. I’ll have to see how much of an update the V1 is. If it’s only minor I may just stay with the r7.

This GPS stuff is way over hype. When im flying with my R3 on the highway i usually disable gps. I have no scientific evidence but i “feel” like it messes with k band detection. i don’t trust it.
I agree! I don't trust anything that stands between me and an I/O K band shot! I also will not ever use any type of lock out either! I'm not knocking it, but I like to get all of the signals and decide what to do about them myself!

So did anyone listen to the recording?
Yes I did, and that is really open to interpretation. I did NOT get the sense from that recording that a new (new detection hardware and TMF3) V1 is coming any time soon. Hope I am wrong, but I just don't see it happening right now.

You cant update your detector either so they have shut down the whole deal. maybe to free up techs for the new production.

on another note im ok with bluetooth being an external feature. maybe a few have noticed that bluetooth has gone through several revisions to the point where if you have a really old device it wont connect to newer bluetooth receivers. Why build something in that might become obsolete when tech evolves... just replace the adaptor and keep rolling

Hoping if the rumor is true that they allow you to update the firmware without sending it in as well.

Can't, that's patented by Escort as far as it looks, and VR doesn't license **** from them

What's that sound? I hear something. Oh, that's just the sound of R7s being boxed up for return and pre-orders being cancelled lol
No my friend, the sound you're hearing is the gates of hell freezing up!
