In front of you but behind a Rabbit
So who is going to call today? Ha ha ha

"Hello, yes this is the RDF calling on a recorded line. Who am I speaking with?" A name is given. "Great, I would like to speak to somebody in Tech Support/Engineering first, then somebody from Sales, then Mike Valentine so that all the wild rumors about the fantastic next generation V1 can be documented and confirm."

Not true one only needs to add Savvy for speed muting or be more proactive by adding a V1LE dongle with JBV1 and eclipse ANY Radar Detector on the market with actual GPS Lockouts that will NOT get you a ticket as other RDs will!

Also some of the features you and others are asking for are covered by other RD manufacturers patents and Mike doesn’t pay royalties. Why do no other RDs have BT because of the Escort Patent unless they pay them a royalty, same for GPS.

Straight up because it will cost me $289 usd + $100usd for shipping both ways + $50usd for a dongle and since I have an iPhone that jbv1 is absolutely useless to me unless I go out and get another android phone ($100cnd). So if I add all that up. I would have spent more for than my pro M which I can even lend to my friends and enjoy all the features of a great detector without having stuff dangling from it along with pairing it to make the detector relevant to my needs.

How often are you loaning your primary detector out to your friends? And why would having the dongle attached to the cigarette lighter adapter be a big problem for them?

I’m glad people who use JBV1 love it, but I wish they would stop acting like it’s the only great app option. V1Driver does the job of actual controlling the detector very, very well, and requires no interaction. And it runs on your iPhone as well as Android.

Sometimes it feels like trying to hold back the tide with a hand shovel and a small bucket, fighting against all the misconceptions, so many of which are created and maintained by otherwise well-meaning people.

Yes in your example you'd spend more but you'd also have more.

I lend my detector out I’m often. Say when my friends are off to the mountains on weekends I lend my detector for their highway use. And often when someone asks about the detector I’m using and they want to buy it. I lend it to them for a weekend. (Lots of my friends have bought the pro M from my input)

I agree. I wouldn’t buy an android phone just to attach jbv1 to it. I would use an iPhone app.

But just read about the ppl raving about jbv1. Words like “it’s a must have with the V1”

But my point is this. Those apps only enhance the V1 because someone took the time to create them and are different on each platform. Apps to give the V1 more functionality and usability should have been created by VR and not a 3rd party in hopes to get more out of the V1

I get it. V1 users are a different breed. I was a V1 fanboy for the longest time. Escort came out with really good usable features while the V1 stood still and I was a faithful V1 user.

I was in a different city and I got nailed on by a speed on green camera 63kmh in a 50. An escort with gps database would have saved me. But that didn’t phase my love for the V1 so I ran the cheetah gps device as well. So 2 cords into the cigarette lighter and 2 devices on the dash/windshield. Then mrcd came into town. We emailed and called V1 but got 0 response. The Pro M came out and gave me everything I needed and more from one device.

I hope it’s true that a new V1 is coming out. I’ve been checking the patent thread at least monthly for like 2 years, hoping I’d finally see that something new was going to be released.

I’m excited about the new R7 coming to me, but I’m REALLY excited about a new V1!

For most GPS-enabled detectors, lockouts do block huge chunks of the spectrum. VR added a Bluetooth dongle to allow apps to control it. Letting V1Driver or JBV1 run in the background of your phone will help minimize the chances of that happening versus trying to build that intelligence into the detector itself, which so far no one has done a perfect job of like the apps have done.

It’s a big deal for most others here, and it’s definitely a big benefit for the general buying public. There will always be those who either don’t understand the benefit or who can’t/won’t afford it, opting for an R1 or SP on the higher end or a blister pack Cobra because they don’t know any better.

Low-speed muting is helpful to minimize unnecessary alerts in traffic or in town, and well-executed lockouts ensure you don’t accidentally ignore a real signal just because it’s near a stationary false source.
We should take a poll on how many cops are synchronizing their speed trap to the nearby motion sensor radar frequencies.

I’ve got the r7, which I really can’t complain about, but I’m secretly hoping an updated V1 will convince me to send back my r7. I purposely bought from Best Buy in case something like this were to happen. I got a month by being an elite member l, so it will be very close.

If something big like a new revision of the V1 was coming out wouldnt they want to hype it up some?? with the release of the R7 it makes sense to put out an advertisement now in hopes of swaying them to get the V1 and hold off on purchasing any other detector.. ? no?

people might think "thats not the way Mike rolls" but hes in the business of selling detectors, obviously wants to sell as many as he can right?

Yeah, I’m also an Elite member at Best Buy, but I’d keep the R7 even if a new V1 came out. I have a newish V1 and R3 now, and even with the R7 coming I’m not yet planning to get rid of either.

However, since the V1 is currently out of stock, maybe now would be a good time for listing it.

I’ve thought about that multiple times. If I was a cop, I’d find radar guns that match the frequency of stationary falses.

I think they tend to "soft launch" new features without announcement, then once it's been out in the field for a bit they'll put out magazine ads and update their website to promote the new feature and how to upgrade your V1. At least that's how I remember TMF2/Junk-K Fighter being rolled out.

They just need to keep a few in stock, run a detector, read the frequency, then bust out the appropriate gun.

Hold on boys. Make some room. Im first in the line for new V1.
You have always been a big V1 guy! We know your ALP system is on the verge of exploding from all the laser hits!:D How much radar do you see? Which guns are prominent in your travels?
