So far I am enjoying mine very much. Not finding laggy arrows at all, it is just fine, quite responsive. Vortex mentioned he is testing a beta FW update so based on history with my R3 Uniden is listening and probably some of the early minor issues will be addressed soon.

One question for other users, the double K announcement is inconsistent for me, not always same freq, anyone else experience this?

Are you talking about when it says, “Front Front?”

I just realized, my replacement R7 has not repeated this yet since I got it. Guess thats a win for the replacement.
I believe it only happens in certain situations. I’m sure it’ll happen eventually as it seems to be software related.

It seems that a user needs some time to get used to what the R7 is "saying". This thing is so dang sensitive, front and rear, that what we were used to in prior detectors no longer applies. There is a K band speed trailer on my commute to work that the R7 picks up at stupid range even with curves, hills, foliage etc. After passing it, the arrow points rear and continues to hold the signal for stupid distance despite a considerable elevation change, more curves and more foliage. LEOs in my town use 33.8 MPH guns and I'm getting 33.8 hits with no other cars in sight.....they can't be Cobra falses and are likely local LEOS driving on side streets that can't be seen. Instead of bellyaching about alerts from the R7, I'm takinga pragmatic approach that complaining about its range and sensitivity is like complaining that your wife/girlfriend has boobs that are too big. Ya just can't complain about that :worthless::giggity::hatsoff::laugh::supaburn::thumbsup::woop::iia:

I haven't had a double directional voice yet.. my only problem is the mount.

The dang mount won't clip onto the detector.. the tab doesn't seem to be broken.. I'm going to see if the single suction mount clips or not. If it clips in, I'm going to ask for a replacement of my double cup mount.

Update.. I tried it.. The single cup mount clips in just fine. It's the double cup mount that doesn't seem to work on my R7. I think the metal blade is just a hair to thick or maybe the hole's not cut out in the proper place. No idea. In the past, I thought it was the R7 because I thought I got it clipped in by holding the R7 upside down nd tapping on it.. but I guess I was wrong.. The only reason I found out it still wasn't clipped in was because I went to take the R7 off the windshield and it slide right off the mount, without me touching the release button.

Yes as Benzr stated...K K
Yeah the worst instance of this happening for me I posted awhile back. Got a BSM false from a CRV followed immediately by a Ka hit and the R7 said “front” four times.

Did you manage to spot all 4 Ka sources? ;-)

uniden to me has always been a low end detector. i find it hard to believe that over the course of a few years, this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Seems with all the problems this thing has out of the gate, maybe they should have done more diligence in producing a better product. i just sold my V1 to try something new after 20 years with V1. ill wait thank you. after all. its a uniden

Let me welcome you to the future, where things change, sometimes dramatically, and sometimes, just sometimes, for the better. You can “believe” anything you want. Some morons actually “believe” the earth is flat and denounce science. Oh well.

"The good thing about Science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it"

Testing shows you're wrong, whether or not you believe it...

I have many things already listed firmware update did nothing for arrow (horn sensitivity) I hate the rear horn being more sensitive than front. but I want a lot lower volume level. My GM truck is quiet or I have great hearing. Sure wish it was quieter . And all alert display needs to quit flashing back and forth with multiple signals are present.

Yay for team ‘too loud’. +1

I’d be happy if the beeps were as quiet as the voice at Vol=1 and Vol=2. There seems to be a mismatch between the beeps and the voice, the beeps are too loud at the low end. After all, these lower levels are used for auto mute, which I prevent to be just barely audible.

Fine if things were made louder at the high end for the ‘too quiet’ crowd, who seem to be in the majority. I just hope Uniden doesn’t listen to the ‘too soft’ majority (who are wrong, lol) and increase the volume across the board.

Maybe there is something wrong with some units too loud and some too soft?

Great post for your first day registered here. It really adds to the useful information. Why did you sell your V1?

your post to me is a low end post. I find it hard to believe that over the course of the mountain of testing videos that show this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread you act as if its trash. Seems that you have personal problems with this thing out of the gate, maybe you should have done more diligence in producing a more better constructive post.
why sell your V1 after 20 years? We'll wait.. after all, it's you-niden.

Also the rear horn will alert on real weak signals when front does not.
