If you are using an R7 and you find any quirks please list them in this thread. Please don't post if you are not listing an issue. I just want a simple place where myself, the Beta Team and Uniden can see a list of all issues so they have a check list of issues to work through.

Minor Issues:

1. When using filtering sometimes the verbal direction alert will not play. (We are all aware of this already)
2. BSM Punches through on some settings (We are all aware of this already)
3. More than one voice prompt per encounter, double direction announcement. (Probably frequency shift but will look into it)
4. Announces only direction but not frequency, only to announce the frequency later
5. Locked out signals should show as greyed out in the All Threat Display like on the primary display. They are currently showing up as unlocked.
6. Arrow Color and Band Color settings in preferences should apply to the All Threat display as well.
7. Display #2 arc-shaped strength meter, the dots are colored instead of grayed out for locked out signals.
8. BSM Punches through on some settings (We are all aware of this already)
9. Auto display brightness errs on the side of being dim, especially with the detector mounted high.
10. Quiet Max Volume – Can it be made louder through firmware?
11. Rear horn balancing pass with sensitivity settings – Rear horn still alerts when front horn does not.

Higher Priority Issues:

1. MRCD needs to be separated from Quiet Ride muting (We are all aware of this already)
2. MRCD detection needs work (We are all aware of this already)
3. If the primary signal is locked out (Greyed out), the next unlocked signal in priority should show on the main display (Currently it shows on the All Threat Display).
4. All Threat display flashes back and forth between the signal being detected and the default info (speed, compass etc.). When 2+ signals are detected, this display should be locked displaying the signals only.
5. Turning off bands in menu will not stick. You have to do a factory reset to get the settings to stick.

If there is something new that you find let us know and we will add it to the checklist to get worked on.

Double direction announcements: "Front Front" or "Rear Rear"
Rear horn seems to be more sensitive than the front
I am pretty sure that is a frequency issue but its noted. When it see's a new frequency it displays a new prompt but there should be some +/- mhz but I have seen several police cars with front and rear antennas at different frequencies that are far off so maybe only alert once per band.

No worries just putting it out there

Double direction announcements: "Front Front" or "Rear Rear"
Rear horn seems to be more sensitive than the front
HA I just had that happen few min ago when I was coming back home. So I have a nice video I will post later. I did some LEO hunting (I guess R7 beta testers can be called poachers) and I got a nice specimen sitting at side of the road. Got a very nice 1 mile detection on 34.7 and about 0.7 mile on the rear. Then the specimen decided to hunt, so I drove behind him (Few cars behind) to show the signal fall off when the LEO only uses it's frontal eyes and not the rear ones. I also weaved in and out of traffic to show fall off when stuck behind Texas edition pickup trucks.

But yeah I got some FRONT FRONT and I was like...hmmm maybe it was two signals...but nope just one. I guess the detector was trying to compensate for all those other times where it doesn't announce the direction.

It also appears that the rear antenna has more sensitivity than front when filtering is applied i.e in Advanced I had my K at 30% and I was driving towards Walgreen door opener and the REAR picked up first than about 3 seconds later later it switched to front.

Great idea.

I’ve also seen it sometimes announce only direction but not frequency, only to announce the frequency later.

The auto display brightness errs on the side of being dim, especially with the detector mounted high.

With the arc-shaped strength meter, the dots are colored instead of grayed out for locked out signals.

I’m combing through my footage currently but I’ve noticed the direction and I frequency too, as well as frequency but no direction.

How about the issue of threat display fighting with the mode/speed display during an alert?

Edit: someone sniped me on this (edited for spelling error again)

Please increase the voice volume to better relate to the current volume level.

Voice announcements are almost half as loud as the alert volume.
Please increase the volume period. It is noticeably not as loud as my R1. I had the windows down the other day and was fighting to hear voice and tone alerts.

I’ll be doing some testing on this tomorrow. I haven’t seemed to notice a difference but I never ran my R1 maxed out

Update. My R1 is indeed louder

I’ve had several instances the past couple days where I’m sitting at a red light and the detector gives me a brief blip of 24.199 behind. There were no Hondas or Acuras behind me. The one just now happened when a Toyota Corolla passed me.

Several of the quirks reported seem to be related to the rear horn, I wonder if there's a bug and certain filters and desensitization settings aren't being properly applied to the rear horn's input?

They may not have been DIRECTLY behind you, but I’ve caught alerts from CRVs before I could even see them. They’re sniffed out almost like real radar with 1.48 on the R3 and apparently now on the R7. In highway mode, you don’t need to be anywhere near them. I caught one the other day almost a mile away off axis! Waiting to turn onto the highway from a side road.

Display number 2 does not gray out the signal strength meter like it does on display number one

120.121.10 happens for X, K, and MRCD lockouts
