Another early morning where I snuck out before the kid got up! Today's test was just the R7 since I wanted to see the difference between Highway and City mode. Low powered Falcon HR is super deadly on this off-axis course! Big thanks to @Heywood for lending it to me!

THanks for testing. Was there any traffic to account for the differences in the runs with MRCD enabled?

There was traffic, but it did not account for the difference in run 2. On this course traffic actually boosts detection ranges. I'll upload videos later.

Hey. Thanks for testing. I’m a little confused about settings. Did you run them with K narrow or K wide? Your discription lists both.

Lol.
Thanks for lending it to you?

Thanks for selling it to me in the first place. It’s an awesome gun. Lol. Your always welcome to anything I have to help. I know, you say the same thing to me. Lol.

Nice testing. Really shows the drop off between highway and city modes. Not a bad thing, just nice to see on the graph how it looks.

I know time is seriously in short supply for you. Did you run anything else that day for a comparison, or just the R7?

Negative, as you pointed out I am in short supply of time lol. Yea it's nice to see the difference, I'm pretty comfortable with city mode after doing this difficult test. If I need the extra range on the highway I can also switch it.

you are one of early morning guys huh :) i think coffee taste better around 0500 myself :)

In city mode MRCD enabled it looks like the results were really close. Highway mode it seemed to fluxuate a bit, but nice testing regardless. thanks for taking the time. now hit the gym :)

Thanks for the testing. This correlates well to HC/dchemist's weekend testing.

I think even with City (especially those of us who don't need MRCD enabled) we are protected against K, knowing we have to drop the anchor unless we're certain it's a BSM/false.

Thanks for the testing!
I realized you didn't have a lot of time, but I can't wait to see more results with a comparison to other detectors with a radar gun like that in the same sort of situation.

Here are a couple of videos of me driving in the opposite direction. Forward facing low powered K band... deadly!

This is the one place where a detector with arrows could get you into trouble by giving you a false sense of security. When we were playing with a V1 like that in a similar setup we saw the same thing. Alert to front because of the reflections and then BAM, full alert rear arrow.

Many thanks @Dukes !! To be up that early in these parts is something.

I watched each video and when I got to your runs in "Highway Mode", I was very, very, impressed with the distance! Not familiar with testing much, I want to ask, when do you start the distance measurement? Is it at the first "sniff" or a more solid alert?

Again, thanks for all your time.

Yes I start recording distance as soon as I get the first “sniff”. I verify the signal by using the frequency display.

@Dukes Have you ever recorded the distance measuring tool in action? I haven't seen these videos yet so if they are posted in this thread I'll have to watch later.

Wow, early morning testing! Thank you!

Good to see that the R7 could still be usable even in City mode.
But it sure cuts down on the off-axis range. Have to be ready to react pretty quickly.

That's my take away from this test as well, around a curve with city mode you don't have much time to think about whether or not it's a false alert or car with BSM. If your going well over PSL it's pretty much drop anchor. The range penalty for city mode was a bit bigger than I was expecting though. But then again, in a city environment no one wants their RD going off every block. Thanks for the testing.

Thanks Dukes for this excellent testing. That particular radar is not for meek detectors to handle. So greatful for this test, it relates well to my current threat environment. I find myself asking if I would have just ignored those initial intermittent, brief, dropped detections as a product of a passing opposite bound BSM. Have to remind myself to never get complacent.
