All his exes may live in Texas, but I’ve traveled a lot of the state with X disabled with nary a problem. Last time I personally saw X was in San Antonio from a ghosted Crown Vic back in maybe 2005 or so (my new-at-the-time V1 with X still enabled), and that was a unicorn even then.

In a separate thread about where other segments need to be enabled, there’s a chart being compiled where they show X as needed. Other than a single speed sign, I’m not aware of any X-band sources. Anyone run into it in Texas any time in recent memory?

Actually...I can't say for sure one way or the other because I've run with X band off from the start of my using RD's.

Well you’re also not aware of the K band explorer Sasquatch in Boerne I’m eventually going to get on cam.

RDFGS says X here and there but I haven’t seen any. Not sure if there’s still some in Houston. It looks like Erick is viewing this thread so he’ll probably say something.

Can't speak for it in TX, BUT I have NOT seen it in IL nor FL for 25 + years. I think that save for a few @hiddencam X moments and NJ & OH , its a unicorn anymore. A quick review of the two (2) major radar gun manufacturers shows most units are lidar, 35.5 or 34.7 Stalker. Even 33.8 (MPH) is becoming a rare bird.

Ha! For sure, that’s why I’m asking. Just because I haven’t made contact with a cryptozoological beast doesn’t mean they don’t exist. But for X I imagine at this point what few were left have long since aged out.

I hear that BIG Foot is making its rounds down in TX now. Seen it? :):) I know that Frio County has it!!!

On a more serious note, except for those areas listed above, X is been on a downhill slide in usage for about 30 years now. K band is also waning, BUT is nowhere the unicorn that X is in most states. Even when I drive through OH, I rarely see it (X) anymore. Most of that is Lidar and Ka band (and aircraft too).

If someone were to ask me what is the current predominant unit out there, I'd have to say Stalker 34.7 followed by 35.5.

I had a confirmed X in McHenry, IL back in 2007/2008. Last one I have had anywhere in the US.

For some reason I turn it on when I drive into IL from NWI. Just checked my logs, I don't see any X other than down in Southern IL but I'm pretty sure it wasn't a threat, most likely a garage door.

Would you recommend dropping X? Or add a unicorn statement? Are you talking about this -->>Locations where additional Ka segments (ie. segment 6) are needed

To the best of my knowledge, I have not run into any police X-band in Texas since I moved back in 2000.

Yeah, that’s what got me thinking about it. I don’t think unicorn status really applies unless there have been claims of sightings. I haven’t seen X in Texas for nearly 15 years—and it was a unicorn back then! And so far it appears others haven’t, either. I think it’s safe to remove TX from the X list unless and until someone can claim a confirmed sighting.
