I've had my R7 less than 24 hours and the power cord has failed as evidenced by the red light on the plug not lighting and the R7 not powering up.

High hopes but no cigar.

This happened with my R3 when first got it as well. Hopefully it doesn't happen with my R7 when I get it.

Did you check the fuse?

Be sure to test to socket with something else. The socket fuse might be blown. Also check the fuse in the power cord.

That would really suck. They can get a replacement to you but it takes a little time I imagine.

Have you checked to make sure that the actual cig plug has power? Have you tried plugging the cord into other cig plugs?
Do you have an Ohm meter and have you tried running a continuity test?

It’s those custom packages created exclusively for BB. :)

I am sure you can bounce right down to local BB and pick up replacement. :)

Had to tease above. Although, I bet BB have them in stores by now or close, and might swap one out of new one on shelf.

Serious, sorry to hear about that.

Actually today I stopped by 3 Best Buy locations mainly because I wanted to test my R7 on the road but also because I wanted to do something nice for the community. Basically my idea was that if any of those Best Buy's had R7 in stock then I would just create a post asking users if they wanted one. Then I would have charged the same price I paid for it plus $10 for shipping. But alas there were none in stock. Actually, the automotive experts in Best Buy looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about R7 and kept showing me the R3.

I sold my R3 and my memory sucks. If the power cord is inserted in the socket but not into the detector does the red light on the plug remain illuminated?

I took my R7 to BB and the car installers agreed that the cord is probably bad. I contacted Uniden Support this morning. There are no power cords in stock so my BRD order might be delivered before the original is working again.
