@Vortex can I use a RJ-11 splitter to plug my mirror tap in one side and my V1 and R7 on the other?
I have wondered about that too. Could you use a splitter and run both a dash cam and the radar detector? They shouldn’t draw too much power.

I've never tried that. I have done two separate MirrorTaps into my Q5 before getting all the wires professionally run and that worked fine. I didn't run two detectors together simultaneously a lot for obvious reasons, but I was able to power them both on simultaneously without issue.

Thank you for the information.

Not yet. I've been holding off until we get public firmware since all the features and how they work are still subject to change. Now that there's a few copies of the detectors out I can work on that next week.
Awesome looking forward to it!! Your guides are great!

Thanks. I'm ordering 2. 3 inch RJ-11 cables. I contrived a jury rig stacking job of both detectors. The V1 on top attaches to the Blendmount. Hopefully it works.

I set up the R7 the same exact way as the R3
Highway Mode
K Narrow- K Filter on- TSF off- MRCD off
Seems to be falsing to a lot more Mazda's and Chrysler's now. Of course it still falses to Acura/Honda but it seems like it's way more chatty now.
Been driving with it for 2 days and there's a LOT of Mazda's and Acura/Honda's around my area.
I'll have to try TSF on and see if that helps and will post back later with some more info.
Send it back to Best Buy for a refund.

Yeah that's where I've been running it too. I did the R3 at 70% and I do the R7 at 60%. Just seat of the pants stuff, nothing super concrete with the different settings, but it does seem natively a little chattier. Maybe the rear antenna, maybe it's more sensitive, I'm not sure why.
And it may be as simple as we passed more of the specific models that set off our radar detector during one week more than the next.
I had 3 falses yesterday and 1 today driving the same route.
The only conclusion I can draw is that the R7 is quieter on Fridays than on Thursdays.

My testing indicates that K Filter and TSR on for the R7 is not really a problem for K-band I/O
X2, and if all you're really seeing is Ka band, TSF wont affect that at ALL!!

Reactivity testing of the R1/3 showed it still plenty quick on IO even with TSF ON. I presume it'll be the same on the R7.

Snapdragons are great but they aren't powerful enough in certain ways for what we are trying to do. Hard to explain without giving too much away. I know that sounds crazy considering they are many orders of magnitudes faster than what is out there in terms of clock speed currently, but clock speed isn't everything.

No worries, to be honest I love this stuff. Yes, Uniden is a competitor but at the same time it's a good unit and I literally couldn't wait to get the unit and desolder the horn before I even powered it on to see what was underneath. I had a pretty good idea what I would find underneath just from behind the scenes industry chatter, but still - there is no substitute for getting my hands on something and taking it apart. Everyone in the office was yelling at me because they all wanted to play with it but I was desoldering components before they even turned it on :)

I definitely exerted some executive privilege on that one!

As an enthusiast and daily user of the Pro my, just wanna say thank you! Not because you provided a picture of the hidden internals of the R7 and build a RD I really enjoy, but because you and your team haven't forgotten where you came from and still enjoy the same things many of us do on this forum. Thanks again!

I just posted this in another thread:. Ok it's a lot more chatty than R3 even with advanced and K at 40% I get K alerts where R3 or even RSPE didn't alert. I drove past the area few times so it wasn't a car BSM just the area K. And yes there have been few K BSMs also.

A rsic components or rather components made for a specific purpose vs multipurpose will always be faster than a multipurpose system.

Mazda was kind enough to start spewing at 24.160, smack dab in the middle of K band which was where we would typically see LEOs. Hondas and GM are usually 24.198 and above so it was easy to disregard them. Thanks Mazda! As always, K band came from Satan's anus.
