Just cracks me up everyone is pumped for 4/15, which is not when you will get your R7. So if your planning on taking the day off of work, make sure your marking down 4/17. Usually BRD is two day shipping (at least for me where I live).

I'm pumped for 4/15 because that's the launch date end of story. Since January that's the date a lot of us have been pining for lol. We finally have a hard number. It's cathartic in a way

Terrible excuse from Uniden, I have never seen a company delay something like that to "make it fair for everyone" lmao, cool. If someone bought something and you have it in stock, ship the thing. :banjo:

I'm definitely keeping my order of 2 from BRD, but tempted to order another from BB and just return it after the others show up.
You know, I think we should all do that. If we have an order in with BRD, wait for that, but in the meantime get one from BB and then return it when the BRD one arrives just to screw over BB.

Out of stock. This is no ones fault but unidens horrible excuse of "keeping it fair"

People talking like if their lives depend on a F*ing radar detector. If that's the case, I feel bad for you that can't wait a couple of extra days for a radar detector or feel "betrayed" or "cheated" because a manufacturer did the best he could to get you the newest shiniest thing out there.
You have my full support Tom. I'm sure this whole thing was not expected and you have handled much better than many people here, Uniden and Best Buy.

#firstworldproblems :) Thanks for the info Tom. Looking forward to getting the R7. No biggie waiting getting updates here is worth the little wait. Sure it is going to be a great detector.

The rougher part of this is that didn't this same thing happen with the R3 launch? BestBuy got them out first?

This is just my feeling and opinion, but if it weren't for all the people canceling on BRD and other re-sellers, because Best Buy had them shipping out sooner, this probably would not have happened. On top of that we also wouldn't have had the delay.

If my memory is correct. Anyone who pre-ordered from BRd got them first and there was a month between his first batch and second batch, both which sold out really quick. He had them before anyone else... I thought.

Yeah. I hear what your saying, but Uniden sent them to Best Buy first and Best Buy sold them first. It’s not really consumers fault here.

I totally hear you, but this goes deeper than someone not being able to wait a couple of days. Here in the USA as well as other countries, we all live in the instant gratification era. You'll notice Amazon and other companies working very hard to get packages out for SAME DAY delivery by drone or some other means. It isn't just detectors, it's anything and everything someone might buy on-line.

Unfortunately the re-sellers paid the price this go around and it wasn't fair to them, and it wasn't their fault. I'm sure they weren't happy about BB getting them out first, but it wasn't until all the cancellations and people calling and emailing them left and right complaining that something had to be done. Once again, this is my feeling and opinion as I don't have a view of what's happening behind the curtain at BRD or any other re-seller, but it makes sense.

I'd imagine it's the price honestly. That's a lot for arrows considering the prices of other options at the moment (V1 availability aside). It's 50% more for the R7 and to a lot the R3 isn't exactly cheap itself.
The V1 is $400 + V1Connect ($50) + SAVVY ($70) + Case (30) = $550 for the V1 to operate at the same 'level' as the R7

That is only around 9% less than the R7 - and that does not including shipping for the V1 (if any is charged).

No one runs the V1 naked here, they all have/need the goodies that go with it, and it all adds up.

I agree though, price is a factor, once something is over $500 people really hesitate.

I really thought this thing was launched in the summer of 17?
Yes you're right I did some more digging, I believe that was regarding Uniden's lack of supply during the drought after an overwhelming demand for units. Apologies

Total: $299

I'm wondering if BB is going to get their pee pee spanked for this or is it just going to be brushed under the rug...
It is unfortunate the way the shipping worked out on the pre-orders, however - How do we know that Best Buy broke any deal? Best Buy often gets the jump on some products due to their enormous buying power and they specifically negotiate to have certain products available a few weeks ahead of time, even if its limited quantity.

Would Uniden like to sell 10,000 units to a partner that has locations all over, established marketing streams, several million visits to its website in a year, comprehensive shipping channels from China and a well known household brand name first? - Or do you think they will ship to 10 internet specialty retailers 1,000 units each, who are not as well known, different points of contacts, collecting many payments, etc?

Best buy does their utmost to make deals to receive the product ahead of time. This is how they get people into the store - in the age of next day or two day shipping and some places not charging sales tax, this is one of the only advantages they have - and it works well for them, electronics can become "stale" pretty quickly.

I can think of many electronic products that best buy received first in the store, prior to being available on Amazon, or anywhere else. Sometimes they get a small shipment and when it sells out - it creates this perception about the new hot product in very high demand.

Arlo Ultra Cameras were available in best buy 2-3 weeks prior to Amazon, several TV models, Samsung Appliances. All available at Best buy 1st, Even though you could pre-order from Amazon, best buy had them in the store 1st.

I think it was by design and Tom got the short end of the stick on this.....I am sure he would love to ship our R7s as soon as possible, but we are dealing with a public company who owes a duty to the Investors 1st, retailers and testers unfortunately come after the profit motive.

For all of you that are saying they should have shipped the pre orders first, did we pre order from Uniden - no - we ordered from a retailer, Uniden did not make a deal with us and we are not privy to the deal they make with their top tier retailers - Best Buy can negotiate things others cannot. Might not be fair, but that is business, especially with Public Companies.

Anyone who is considering canceling their orders - please consider that Tom supports us here, so I think we can wait a few weeks to support him.
